GRATEFUL FOR HOME 💜

November always makes me think a little more about gratitude.

As a designer, I spend so much time looking at what we can change in a home that it's easy to forget to appreciate what is already there.

Maybe it's the kitchen where everyone gathers, the bathtub where you escape at the end of the day, or the dining table that has heard years of family stories.

Before thinking about what you'd change, take a moment to appreciate the spaces that already hold your memories.

Event Season Continues! Beautiful Designs, Inspiring Conversations & Cherished Friendships! 💜

Another fantastic week celebrating everything I love about the kitchen and bath industry!

First stop was Cambria, where they unveiled FOUR gorgeous new designs! 😍 While every slab has its own personality, I have to say St. Loxley stole my heart! The dramatic movement and beautiful veining are absolutely stunning! Cambria continues to impress with its incredible designs, and I always enjoy spending time with Joe and Danny in the showroom. They make every visit a pleasure!

Next up was a wonderful evening at Cosentino celebrating the launch of Inspired Kitchens & Baths! My friend Helene Terry of Helene's Luxury Kitchens, along with collaborators Charlotte Comer, Margaret Chambers, and Bryan Yates, introduced the book and participated in an engaging panel discussion about our industry today. What a treat to hear their perspectives and celebrate their accomplishments!

Even better, all proceeds from the book went to Dwell with Dignity, an incredible organization making a difference through the power of design. ❤️

And the icing on the cake? Getting to reconnect with my dear friend and mentor, Vivienne Notelovitz of Kitchens Designed by Vivienne! Vivienne moved away a few years ago, and I miss her terribly! It was such a joy to see her, share some laughs, and catch up. Some friendships are simply priceless! 💜

From discovering beautiful new products to celebrating talented colleagues and reconnecting with treasured friends, weeks like this remind me why I still love this industry after three decades!

Great design brings us together, but the relationships make it special!

BEAUTIFUL CAN STILL BE PRACTICAL

Cooler weather brings muddy shoes, jackets, bags, and all the "stuff" that seems to follow us through the door.

A thoughtfully designed drop zone, mudroom, or entry gives everything a place to land without sacrificing your home's beauty.

Hooks. Drawers. Closed storage. Charging stations. A bench for putting on shoes.

These may not be the glamorous details—but they're often the ones that make you love your home a little more every day.

It's Event Season, and What a Week It's Been! 🍂🎉🎸

The kitchen and bath industry knows how to work hard, celebrate big, and give back to the community!

I kicked off the week celebrating National Kitchen + Bath Month at the beautiful Sub-Zero, Wolf & Cove showroom for the NKBA Texas North Plains Chapter's 14th Annual Kitchen + Bath Month Event! I spent the day earning CEUs, then celebrated creativity, talent, and design excellence with our Tablescapes, People's Choice, and KABA competition winners!

A special thank you to my dear friends Stephanie Stevens (Swanky TX Floors), Holly Alexander (708 Studios and Holly Alexander Signature Design), and Priscilla Braswell (Trella Design and Remodel) for coming out to support me and NKBA! Having my friends there made the evening even more special. 💜

Then it was time to ROCK! 🎸🤘

Texas Counter Fitters hosted their 5th Annual Rocktoberfest at their beautiful facility, bringing together our industry and community for a fantastic cause! Three stages of rock and roll, incredible art, delicious food, and plenty of fun - all while raising money for several nonprofit organizations!

My girls, Stephanie Stevens (Swanky TX Floors) and Traci Hunt-Niese (Leopard + Black Interiors), joined me for the festivities, making the evening even more memorable!

One of the things I love most about this industry is the incredible friendships, the generosity, and the way we come together to celebrate and support one another.

And we're not slowing down... more to come next week! 💜

A Refined Country Retreat

Set in the country where goats and chickens are part of everyday life, this home addition was designed to bring beauty, function, and a little unexpected personality to every space.

The soft pink laundry room pairs polished nickel with extensive cabinetry and a two-faucet trough sink designed for two-person cleanup after feeding the animals. Existing legs from the former powder bath were given new life, while a custom countertop surround provided the support needed for the new sink.

The guest bath delivers a completely different kind of surprise. Striped green-and-white tile travels from floor to shower, complemented by a HydroRail shower system with a rainhead, a custom wood vanity with oversized ring pulls, and a statement mirror and sconces.

Even the narrow hallway became part of the experience, with herringbone wood flooring, a transom window, and beautiful lighting leading into the new multipurpose room.

Designed for both family and guests, the multipurpose room offers multiple plush seating areas, a hidden cabinet bed, wardrobe storage, oversized drawers for games and blankets, a table for puzzles and game nights, and a breathtaking bar where stone, natural wood, and painted cabinetry come together.

Every square foot was designed around how this family truly lives.

Craftsmanship Matters

Successful design depends on exceptional craftsmanship. A beautiful plan is only the beginning - it takes talented builders, installers, fabricators, artisans, and makers to bring every detail to life.

Today, we celebrate the skilled professionals whose expertise turns a design vision into a beautifully executed space. Great design and great craftsmanship go hand in hand - and when both come together, the results speak for themselves.
