Mississippi Coalition for Animal Protection

Mississippi Coalition for Animal Protection We are a federal & State recognized 501(c)3 Non-Profit Charity. We also work with many other rescue partners both inside and outside of South Mississippi.

We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome (when needed) animals in crisis, by balancing animal comfort and public safety by supporting local Law Enforcement, Red Cross and Non-Violence Center. MCAP was created to Rescue, Rehabilitate and Rehome animals in crisis (including housing pets experiencing domestic violence), ensure healthy pets through education, advocacy and affordable services (including TNR)

, inspire the community where the animal-human bond is celebrated and nurtured, maximizing live outcomes for animals, while balancing animal comfort and public safety by supporting local law enforcement & animal control officers in South Mississippi as well as assisting Emergency Operations Centers & the American Red Cross during natural disasters. We are ALL VOLUNTEERS!!! We could not do any of this without our
wonderful volunteers, foster homes, and fabulous vet clinics that we work with. We have a PAYPAL ACCOUNT that we accept all donations through. Below are the ONLY OFFICAL MCAP payment links!! Please do not send anything to any personal accounts!!! PayPal:

Sorry for the in-your-face photo 🙀, but we get asked a lot about how to tell the difference between female cats and male cats. It’s especially difficult to decipher when dealing with a neutered male cat or kittens who don’t have obvious man parts yet.

Our very willing models for this awkward photo were Tony who has recently found a home greeting folks at the Spay Neuter Clinic 😻 and our very own Moonfrye, who was born to a stray cat at our house 6 years ago. ❤️

As you can see from the illustration, the distance between the a**s and ge***al area is much greater on a male cat than a female. You can also tell from the shape of the ge***al opening. On a male, it is circular (similar to a : colon). On a female, it is more like a vertical line (similar to a ; semi-colon).

Another simpler, but less reliable, way to tell the s*x of your kitten is by the color of its coat. Tortoiseshell or tri-colored cats are almost always female. The chromosomal makeup of female cats is solely responsible for this coloration, so you can pretty much guarantee any calico cat is a girl as well. Orange or ginger-colored cats, however, are most often male. Yet, this trait is not as reliable as the tri-colored trait, as only three-quarters of ginger-colored cats are male.

I have always loved animals and throughout my adult life, rescued rehabilitated and rehomed many animals on my own. That sentiment has continued with the support and love of Mississippi coalition for animal protection. This journey began when I adopted ferrets that were taken due to abuse. After taking custody of the ferrets and speaking with Stacy Necaise, who started the Rescue group I realize that I can once again play an important role in the lives of many animals.

I am a volunteer/dog foster home/member of the Rescue helping families coordinate their adoptions and making sure that animals are paired with the proper homes . This collaboration is done with the animals best interest in mind and consideration of what they need to thrive. Our foster homes play a vital role in this as well as our Transport team, and many other entities that we work with. Thanks to Rising Star Rottweiler Rescue and Furry friends for their continued hard work in ensuring that every dog pulled has the basic tools to thrive in placement when we receive them. Here’s pictures of my fur babies. The fosters fit in with my animals until they find their forever homes ❤️

✨️ Introducing Silly Sammy ✨️

1 year old
Male (Neutered)
Black Lab mix
Microchipped

Silly Sammy had a very sad beginning. He was initially rescued by a local ACO in Gulfport Mississippi. Sammy had 6 other siblings in his litter. Unfortunately, due to lack of vaccinations as puppies Sammy & his siblings all had Parvo.

Sammy had several siblings passed away enroute from ACO to the vet. The Vets fought hard for Sammy including administering very expensive medications to try to save his life as well as his one remaining brother Hero. Hero despite getting the medication went into organ failure & passed away.

Sammy was taken in by a young couple & fostered for several months. They intended to adopt him, but due to a job change & relocation, they couldn't take him & so he came back to rescue.

Sammy LOVES ❤️ People with his whole heart. Hes not a fan of cats!! He will chase them. He wants nothing more than to please his people!!
He is crate & house trained!!

He loves ❤️ water & car rides!!

We would like the extend a HUGE THANK YOU to our friends @ Furry Friends in Florida for the opportunity to work together to save more lives & create happy endings.

For the last few weeks, Tibor & his friends have been putting Kimberly (Rottweiler) & Deisel (Rottweiler) through training while getting them healthy from the situations they came from. These 2 wonderfully mannered dogs are heading to their temporary foster homes in Mississippi until they meet their forever families.

Tibor & his friends will be doing some work with Toby & Koda (Black & White mixbreeds pictured below) They are also helping Romeo (Chiweenie) find his forever home in Florida. Toby & Koda will return in a few weeks after they completed training.

It's crazy what a BEFORE & AFTER photos look like.

This is Little Man. He was surrendered to rescue in February & by April found his new loving home. His transformation was amazing. Upon intake he was SHY & was not to sure about how to be a family pet. After a short time in foster care & some much needed vet care, he blossomed into a SWEET little man.

🚫 AI WARNING 🚫
BAD FOR BUSINESSES

Anyone with a business needs to check Google results now that AI is generating reviews and opinions.

We had it brought to our attention that AI has generated some HORRIBLE information about MSCAP.

Thankfully, the individual that brought it to our attention took the time to do a deep dive & review how AI came up with its review.
Upon inspection AI puts a link to Yelp and when you click on it, it brings up a totally different animal welfare agency. It's Mississippi Animal Rescue League. They are a shelter not a rescue. And all the negative reviews are from them.

The reviewer also pointed out that since our name & their name start with that same 1st word, its understable how AI could cause a mixup. AI is computer based NOT a human putting in information.

However this is very disturbing to us as we are a small foster based rescue & majority of those reviews were generated BEFORE we existed.

Unfortunately we know not everyone looks at dates and just googles things & reads brief summary & then assumes it to be whole TRUTH!!
