The hardest part of losing a horse you love so very much isn't just the goodbye, its the way your entire world changes without them and the emptiness left behind not just in your heart but in the barn, in their stall, in their turn out where their pasture mates wait for their arrival. Shalina was so special to DeShazer Arabians. Our staff will miss her daily. She was so kind to everyone she met. The way she would quietly talk to babies that weren't hers, the way she would wait for you at her door and turn her body sideways for you to scratch her back. There wasn't a pasture fence she wouldn't line up to for a back scratch. Shalina was well cared for, exceptions were always made for the queen some say she was a little spoiled but thats ok she earned every bit of it. She will take her final ride back to the barn when her ashes are ready for us to pick up where she will take her place in the barn once more so we can always have her close by.

For those who don't know...nature is beautiful and it's always worth sharing...
These are the so called “fairy slippers” that foals have over their hooves in order to protect the mom's uterus and birth canal. Then, right after the birth, these soft “feathers” dry up and fall off, so that the foal's hooves quickly harden and are ready for standing up.
Nature is simply perfect ✨️

Saying goodbye never gets any easier. No matter the circumstances be it ill for long periods, fighting to still be here or an un forseen emergency making the decision for us.

The sadness in the barn is felt by all. No longer the first to sound off when the barn door opens. No more throwing of the jolly ball out on to the walk way for the hundredth time so it can be tossed back in for a game of toss the jolly ball. That ting sound of a hoof on the walker panel when he says I'm done and ready to come in. Little moments we will all miss.

Hold tight to the memories they give us. Cherish the time we have with them.
We feel very blessed to have been loved and got to love such an extraordinary creature.
