We are so excited to introduce you to the newest member of our SEP team, Dr. Maddie Frizzell! Dr. Maddie is a born and raised Texan. She grew up showing Arabians and that sparked her interest in equine sports medicine. She completed her bachelors degree at Oklahoma State University and continued her education at Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she obtained her DVM degree. Following graduation, she completed a year long internship in Stephenville, Texas at Signature Equine Hospital. Sheโ€™s excited to be serving the equine community in the greater Houston area, overseeing the Smith Equine Performance Rehab Center and seeing patients in the field.

We are excited to share one of the many different treatment possibilities of the RLT Laser and Saltwater Spaโ€ฆ
This mare came to us with a severe case of habronemiasis, or commonly referred to as a summer sore. Dr. Smith prescribed some topical ointments and weekly regimen in our Saltwater Spa and RLT Laser treatments. We began to see very significant results early on and after week 3 she was ready to have the necrotic tissue surgically removed.
After this surgery she has continued with her therapies and has made incredible progress in just a little over a month. She still has a long way to go, but we love seeing the results that our treatments can provide!
