Eddy Alvarez has patrolled the edge of the Everglades, Redlands, Homestead area for the past 24 years, feeding abandoned dogs, cats, birds, etc on a daily basis. Eddy feeds at least 30 - 40 dogs on any given day. He has been doing this on his own, most of the time paying for vetting out of his own pocket and getting scraps from restaurants so the dogs would not go hungry, until recently that he started receiving dog food donations. Eddy’s Dogs aka K-9 Rescue is a 501(C)3 non profit organization committed to the rescue and placement of unwanted or abandoned animals. Based in Florida, Eddy has helped thousands of dogs by bringing them out of the dangerous areas in the Everglades, vetting, nurturing, rehabilitating and finding them loving forever homes. These are wonderful, loving animals that often only need love, compassion and a little understanding or training to make them an incredibly awesome family member and best friend. Because there are so many abandoned dogs in the Everglades, mostly big dogs, we are limited in how many can be brought in. Therefore, the small dogs, pregnant/with puppies or dogs that are hurt or in immediate danger are brought in first as they will not survive in the wild. Most of the dogs we take in are malnourished, ill, injured or been abused, so you can imagine vet expenses are quite expensive. Eddy tries to vet them himself by giving them dewormer, flea and tick medication, etc. and trying to keep them as healthy as possible until it’s their turn to be brought in. We desperately need animal lovers for assistance with feedings, foster care and transport. Eddy’s K-9 Rescue houses as many as we can, but we are limited in space. It is painful to turn away a pet in need because we know what its fate will most likely be! These lives are precious…We believe that if an animal has the courage to survive the abuse and neglect, it deserves to be medically treated and live its remaining years (no matter how old or their condition is they will get a second chance) in a loving home. Eddy’s dogs Rescue is always in need of Gas Gift Cards, Dog Canned Food, Dry Dog Food, Flea and Tick Medication. Occasionally, we will post YouCaring Fundraisers for certain dogs. Hi everyone my name is Lucy I am looking for my forever home.
I am a very sweet girl who is just looking for a comfy bed and some cuddles. I am not very active i am more of a home doggie. I got right outside to go potty and want right back in. I am good with other dogs but have not been cat tested. I love little humans ( they give great head scratches). I am about 2 or 3 years old so I have lots of love to give for many years to come.

Happy Saturday everyone!

My name is Stella, my foster mom calls me Stella Bella and my wiggle butt goes into turbo mode. I'm a very sweet girl who loves other dogs but I'm a little too excited around cat friends. At my foster home, we have a stray cat that comes in and runs the house. So when he is inside, I go in my crate and take a really cozy nap.
I am one smart cookie. I know how to sit for my food and treats, I'm crate trained, and have never had an accident in the house. I am about 1 1/2 years old and will be spayed before I'm adopted.
Another quirk about me is I like the water and sometimes play with toys, but to be honest I am more interested in cuddles being with people. In my foster home there are 3 little humans and I am super gentle with them.

Pearl was found starving to death in deplorable conditions and Pat couldn't turn her back on her ,she expressed how she is committed to saving her but it was getting to be very expensive and difficult as she lives on a fixed income . So we commited to helping her save this noble ,loving creature whos past life hasn't been the best. Our help and your kindness and generosity are crucial to her recovery and survival. Honey Buns is facing several health challenges, and while pneumonia and liver damage have been confirmed.

We are also investigating potential snake bites. Her facial swelling is progressively worsening, leading the doctor to suspect a water moccasin bite.

Currently, she is being shaved, and antivenom administration is being considered. We appreciate continued donations to support her care and provide optimal treatment for this lovely girl.

Our sweet girl, Honey, is currently en route to a 24-hour emergency veterinary clinic to continue receiving treatment. We would like to extend our gratitude to those who have donated thus far and encourage others to contribute to her medical care.
Despite our efforts, her condition remains uncertain, and we are exploring all possible avenues to ensure her recovery. Her prognosis is currently 50/50. Radiographs indicate potential pneumonia, but lung cancer cannot be ruled out without an ultrasound. Her blood work confirms the presence of an infection.

Update: honey is being picked up and going to a 24 hour emergency vet. At the moment it appears to be pneumonia but the prognosis is 50/50 we are not sure if she has lung cancer. We are doing everything possible to help her and will not give up on her.

Urgent help needed.

Update on honey:
After being sedated for surgery the dr was able to get a better look at the ball they were thinking was a mass. The vet decided to not do surgery and to try a different group of medications. He believes she might have inflammatory bowel disease. He wants to see her again in 2 weeks. If it has not improved then she will have surgery to get a biopsy to see what is going on.
