Labrador Friends of the South, Inc. Labrador Friends of the South (LFS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of homeless Labrador Retrievers. Thank you.~

We are based out of ATLANTA, GA. LFS relies solely on donations, fund-raising events and adoption fees to function and continue saving and placing homeless Labradors. We do not receive any state or federal funding. LFS is an all volunteer organization of people who give their time, effort, and love for labs to protect and save them from the perils of pet over-population and irresponsible pet owner

ship. Our ultimate goal is to help these dogs find new, loving, forever homes.

🐾 Update on Amelia 🐾
Amelia was so happy to see her sister off to her foster home yesterday and is hoping someone will reach out soon to foster her! Amelia is still very nervous but has been manageable on a leash. Amelia is dog friendly and will need a patient foster home that can give her time and the love to come out of her shell!

This sweet girl is still working through a severe ear infection which is causing her abnormal head tilt.

🐾 Update on Lenore 🐾
Lenore got a bath this morning to get all ready for her new foster mom to pick her up today! Sweet Amelia was right there trying to comfort her!

Her foster mom reports that she’s still very nervous and has spent the majority of the afternoon in her crate but did eat dinner which is a great sign!

We can’t wait to see this girl start coming out of her shell!

Looking for the best boy? Meet Buddy! Buddy is 2 years old, great with kids and other dogs. He is a fan favorite at our boarding facility. Everyone loves him and he loves everyone! Buddy is also crate and house trained! Stop by our event on Saturday and say hey to Buddy!

🐾 Meet Buddy 🐾
Buddy was found as a stray at 8 months old and was taken in by his rescuers. Unfortunately after a year of trying to make it work, it was too much for his family to add another dog to the pack. He was very loved by his past family but they knew there was someone out there that would be able to give this boy the life he dreamed of! Buddy is now 2. He has grown up with children and LOVES kids! He is also dog friend and so happy!

Lena is another sweet, year old girl looking for a foster or forever home. She’s settling in more every day but still an anxious girl. She really hates being crated and wants to be right next to her people. She would love someone that is some often and that can spend the time to help her come out of her shell. She loves giving hugs, getting attention and just being by people. We think she would do fine with kids, maybe not super little kids just with her activity level and age.

‼️ Lenore Needs a Foster ‼️
She hasn’t moved from this position. She desperately wants to get away. She’s absolutely terrified but unfortunately we have no other options for her right now other than a boarding facility. She really needs a foster. Someone that can be patient as she is currently a flight risk. She’s had a very hard 12 years and deserves to live out her golden years relaxed and comfortable. Please someone help us. We can only do so much without fosters.

🐾 Meet Amelia 🐾
This sweet soul has not had it easy. She came to rescue after living her whole life outside with a large group of other dogs. Their previous owner was able to provide them basic necessities, but it is clear they were not handled or socialized much and did not receive a lot of vet care, so unfortunately Amelia is in rough shape. She is about 9-10 years old, and she is so afraid and unsure of her new surroundings right now that she just wants to get away and hide. She does not understand a leash, and new people are very scary at the moment. Despite it all, she has not once tried to bite, but she panics if we go too fast. It will take time and patience to show her that humans are not scary and that she is safe.

On top of being in a new place, Amelia has a severe bilateral ear infection causing her to have an abnormal head tilt and the dog version of vertigo (vestibular disease). This is likely adding to her fear, but we hope that with treatment, this will improve. Her skin is also infected, she has a mammary mass that we will biopsy when she is spayed, and her teeth are severely worn from years of chewing on something very hard (a chain or fence maybe?). We can only speculate at what Amelia and her “siblings” have endured, but we will do everything we can to give her a better life going forward.
