IT'S HAPPENED AGAIN...we have cat neuter openings for tomorrow's surgery (July 7th)!!!

We would like to fill as soon as possible and we'll dm you. Cats must be 3 pounds or 3 months old, AND must have descended testicles.

Please dm us and we will get back to you ASAP this afternoon/evening to discuss arrangements. Drop off is between 8 and 9 am, with pickup between 4 and 6 pm. Price is $50.

Stepping Stone Animal Society: Cat Surgeries Are Back!

We’re so glad to share that for the past couple of months, Dr. Micha has been back and we’re now able to offer spay and neuter services for cats! Cat neuters can be scheduled with little delay, and as usual, our cat spays have a longer wait.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting our feline friends, and we appreciate your patience and encouragement along the way.

At this time, we’re not yet scheduling dog surgeries, but we’re hopeful for the future and will keep you updated as things evolve.

We have filled these two appts, but can add you to our wait list for cat neuters. Thank you everyone for the prompt responses.

We have 2 cat neuter appts available for Monday, June 9th. We would like to fill as soon as possible and we'll dm you. Cats must be 3 pounds or 3 months old, AND have descended testicles.

Hey friends! I wanted to see if anyone might be interested in helping us purchase two portable air conditioners for the space where we hold cats. It’s starting to get really warm, and the current AC isn’t working well—plus, one area doesn’t have any air conditioning at all. We don’t want the cats to overheat! We’ve added two portable AC units to our Amazon wishlist—link is in the comments. Thank you so much for your support!

(Please share!) We will be hosting a drive-up rabies vaccine clinic in Stepping Stone Animal Society’s parking lot, located at 12510 Naves Cross Road, Cumberland, on SUNDAY MAY 18, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

— Cats must be in separate carriers, and dogs must be on leashes.
— A one-year vaccination will be administered if 1) this is the first vaccination your pet has ever received, 2) their previous vaccination expired more than 2 months ago (i.e., before March 18, 2025), or 3) you cannot provide a rabies certificate (tags do not count) as proof they qualify for a three-year booster.
— A three-year booster will be given if you can provide a rabies certificate as proof that 1) a one-year rabies vaccine was given on or after April 18, 2024, or 2) a three-year rabies booster was given on or after April 18, 2022.
— Rabies vaccines and microchips are available for $20 each.
We accept cash, credit, or debit cards.

We were very happy to be able to support the fine folks at Meow Mission Coalition today with their TNR efforts! Without them securing trappers and a vet for the day, this undertaking would not have been possible.

Please note our regular vet is still on maternity leave, so our wait list is still closed. Once she returns and we take care of folks who were already on the list, we will reopen the list and announce it here.

Our primary veterinarian is currently on maternity leave, and we have faced difficulties finding a replacement. As a low-cost spay and neuter surgery clinic, we understand the urgency and need for our services. We have a significant waiting list for surgeries, and we are doing everything possible to manage this effectively.

As we do this, we would ask you to not leave messages to be added to any wait list. If you email us ([email protected]), we will send you a list of other lower-cost spay/neuter clinics in the area who may be able to assist.

Please bear with us as we navigate this period. We want to reassure you that WE ARE NOT CLOSING and we remain committed to addressing our waiting list as efficiently as possible.

We are serious about our search for additional veterinary staff. Whether it is part time, full time or a day or two a week....let us know if you are interested.

Our cat spay/neuter wait list is now open. You will still experience a wait, but we hope to keep it to a month or less.

There are some important instructions we would like to make you aware of.
#1 - we make the majority of our return/appointment calls from our personal landline and cell phones. This is necessary because we are not physically at the clinic every day. Over the past 2 months, we have made over 150 calls, left messages, and received no responses. We know you may not answer your phone if you don't recognize the number, but we always leave a message. If we make 2 calls and there is no response within 2 weeks, we archive your request and move on.
#2. If you change your phone number after you get on the wait list, please let us know.
#3 If your phone does not accept messages or your voicemail is full, we can not reach you.

This is a lengthy post, but please know that we want to serve you and your animals, and nothing is more frustrating for us than trying to reach out to you and not receiving a reply. Probably how you feel when you don't hear from us, and it is because of one of the issues noted above.

HOLD ON CAT WAIT LIST!

Due to the overwhelming need for surgery's relative to the number of surgical appointments we have available, we have put a HOLD on adding CAT clients to the wait list. Rest assured, if you are already on the wait list, we will contact you to schedule your appointment. We are not closing the clinic. Please check back after April 1st for an update on the status of the wait list. If we are able to remove the hold earlier than April first we will announce it here.
