Tri-State Zoological Park & Animal Park, Care & Rescue 501c3

Tri-State Zoological Park & Animal Park, Care & Rescue 501c3 We are permanently closed for business. Local Zoo and Exotic Animal Rescue Starting back in his childhood, founder and owner Bob Candy had a dream to open a zoo.

Permanently closed.

His unofficial zoo began at an early age as he always told his parents how much he loved animals, always bringing something new home. Now a proud resident of Cumberland for over 20 years he has finally gotten the chance to make his childhood dream a reality, while sharing his love for the animals with the community. With the help and support of his wife Donna, the first phase of the Tri-State Zoo

began in the spring of 2003. With the first step of establishing the zoo completed, plans to expand are already underway with new animals arriving all the time. We plan to make this the best zoo around, something for the community to share and enjoy for years to come. Along with the knowledgeable staff working at the zoo, there are a number of volunteers, many of them from the local schools, with a desire of their own to be around these wonderful creatures, assisting to make your visit something to remember. As a non-profit organization, the Tri-State Zoo hopes to continue to further expand its fences to make this not only a dream for the staff but also for the community. Thank you Ashleigh!

NOTE: In this video some of the kind of animals I mentioned were incorrect like Snorkel is a Pot Belly Pig not a Wart Hog, because of him having those tusks ...

❤️We want to thank you for your concerns & comments on our post about closing. Many have inquired where Animals are going & if they could home them. Prior to our announcement, we made sure all of our Animals had a new home to go to.
🐾To give you an update, many of our Animals were privately owned but for some reason, they're owners could not keep them, so we gave them a home. These Animals either have been given back or will be in the following weeks. Here is a list of these particular animals:

💥PRESS RELEASE FROM BOB CANDY, TRI-STATE ZOO 8/19/22.
It is not often that one can truly follow their dreams or passions. I have been lucky to have done both in creating & bringing the Tri-state Zoo in Cumberland, MD to the community. It has been our pleasure to bring to all, the wonderful world of animals, serving the community in so many ways over the years. From Heritage Days, Canalfest, Outdoor School, classroom visits, educational programs, Ground hog day, zoo tours, field trips, birthday parties, Zoovies, retirement home visits, events such as "Bu at the Zoo " & our Easter egg hunt & many more that we've participated in - we have enjoyed every moment! Watching the excitement & 😁 on your faces, young & old, was so rewarding. Many got to experience & interact with animals up close, a "bucket list " item for some, & a lifetime memory for others.
After 20 years, it is difficult & sad for me to announce that the zoo will be closing to the public. 😔 We will shut our gates for the last time on Sunday, October 2nd, 2022.
I would like to thank everyone , too many to mention, that have supported us over the years. A special thanks to the many volunteers, who have worked tirelessly, taking care of our zoo family, mainly made up of rescued animals. We could not have been possible without you. Thank you to the numerous sponsors & those who donated everything from food to supplies. Thank you to the community for allowing us to be part of your lives! I would especially like to thank my family & friends for being part of & putting up with my "crazy" dream, certainly not the ordinary! Hope you all have enjoyed it too!
We will remain open until 10/2/22, with daily hours from 10am-5pm. Please come out & visit the animals during this time. *Some may be going to their new homes & we will keep everyone informed through our page.
Thank you for believing in my lifelong dream & encouraging my love of all animals great & small.
Thank you ❤~Bob Candy
