If anyone is interested in watching 1st training session w me & a horse (gelding), this Sunday Oct 27 @ 10am I get a 4yo "problem horse" in. He's been under saddle, but after 7 mos of owner riding him, he bucked her off. After phone consult & discussion, I suggested checking his testosterone level, though "gelded." Well, he's recovered from the removal of 2 testicles in his abdomen now, & testosterone level now appropriate for a gelding. Now for a bit of education for 4 wks w Mr. David.
Normally my 1st session is approx 3 hrs upon arrival, I start w developing an effective teacher/student relationship, teach us a common language, & teach the student how to learn, at liberty in the round pen. Usually the student gets tacked at liberty, and I mount. All modified based upon learning needs of the student. His name is Danny.
Suggest bring a chair & beverages.

I'm going to have The Horse Trailer Coating Guy here in November, he coats & seals horse trailer roofs, please let me know if you'd like to get yours done while he's in the area, we can line-em up for him.
Not positive yet on timing. But if your roof leaks, he's the one to fix it!

“Think about offering these things with feel. Don’t go too fast and get your horse operating from self preservation. If your horse can’t do it slow, speeding it up will just make him do the wrong thing faster.” - Buck Brannaman

Kiki Da Silva Meet Leo, 9yo OTTB w over 30 races. I met him very early this year to assess problems the owners were having with him. When I met him, I thought there were many physical & emotional issues. He was very untrusting & shy of humans. Since January, the loving owners have been getting his health cleared up (also a big TY to Katherine Menassas )& giving him emotional support.
Today it was time for me to go get him & haul him to my place for training, so he could truly embark on his 2nd career.
I met a very different horse physically & emotionally than I met in January. Dapples everywhere. Gorgeous. Happy w his humans. So I got his halter & lead, started to walk toward him, & he said, "oh hell no, I don't know you, stranger danger" & took off.
The dance began. I used active & passive leadership both simultaneously & sequentially to help him get out of his own head, & into mine. In a large field/paddock. The picture was taken 15-20 mins later (I lose track of human time when I'm listening), in the middle of his paddock. I hadn't tried to put the halter on him yet. I stood up & he followed me toward the barn. I stopped halfway & put his halter on.
It doesn't take years, or 6 months, to develop an effective relationship with your horse.
The owner, Kiki, sent me this pic (I didn't know she had taken it), with these words, "It's a perfect depiction of you being able to translate stress and anxiety to calmness. 🥰" Her sharing & words brought tears to my eyes. It's why I do what I do. But it is only me using the Gifts God has Blessed me with. Not my glory. HIS Glory. Just as Leo today voluntarily yielded himself, his will, to me today, I have yielded myself, my own will, to Him, & His Will. Try it out for yourself. Then Listen. No greater peace can be found, just as Leo found peace with me today.
