❤️❤️❤️ADOPTION UPDATE❤️❤️❤️

We were sent this remarkable update on a stray girl that was adopted from our shelter almost 1yr ago.! Definitely worth the read!!! Maggie truly hit the jackpot with an amazing family and we are so happy to share!

Dear Greene County Animal Shelter Team,

As July 22nd approaches, I wanted to share a special update—it’s been one year since I adopted Maggie (formerly Lilly Ann) from your shelter.

Maya, our other dog, came with me the day I picked Maggie up, and they’ve been the best of friends ever since. They go everywhere together and truly are like peas in a pod. Watching their bond grow has been so heartwarming.

Over the past year, Maggie has experienced so many “firsts”—her first snow day, beach trip, haircut, and even a trip to Nashville! She’s become such a bright, playful, loving part of our family.

It’s amazing how much she’s changed since her first day home. Everyone who sees her before-and-after photos comments on how much happier and more relaxed she looks now. Her eyes are brighter, and there’s a calm joy about her that wasn’t there before. She seems to know she’s safe, loved, and truly home.

I’ve attached a photo collage that highlights just a few of the memories we’ve shared so far. Thank you so much for the role you played in her journey. We’re so grateful for all you do!

This precious girl is so deserving of being someone’s best girl…. Unfortunately no one has inquired about making that happen for this beautiful girl who arrived at our shelter stray appearing to have a family with no family coming forward for her. Tessie Lynn is a lab mix weighing about 45lbs and is guessed to be around 3yrs old. Tessie Lynn is such an easy going girl who enjoys her days cuddle on her bed with a fluffy blanket while being at our shelter. Tessie Lynn walks well on leash and loves people so much! Tessie Lynn needs someone to give her a chance as she is so deserving in finding a forever home!! Tessie Lynn has us falling in love with her at the shelter as she is such a happy girl that just wants someone to love her!! Come by and meet Tessie Lynn who needs some happiness in meeting a potential family. Tessie Lynn has been spayed and is up to date on her vaccines. Tessie’s Lynn adoption fee is $95 cash or check. Our hours to meet this beautiful girl are Monday, Tuesday, Friday 10-2 and Saturday 10-3. Share Tessie Lynn!

Fox is STILL available for adoption and has had NO interest! This sweet boy appears shy in the kennel but once you get him out, he opens right up. Fox is estimated to be about 2 years old and is not neutered. His adopter will need to reside in Stafford or a bordering county.

Dixie is an endearing two year old girl with a heart full of love and loyalty. She was all smiles on Saturday, hoping that someone would meet her and fall in love. Sadly, she is still eagerly awaiting her forever home. Dixie is a natural with children and thrives on human companionship, making her an ideal fit for a family environment. This sweet girl is already house and crate trained, ensuring an easy transition into home life. While Dixie is good with other dogs, she seems to want to be the center of attention in a home. We believe she would be happiest as the only pet, where she can soak up all the cuddles and love without any jealousy. With her perfect mid-energy level, Dixie enjoys playtime and walks, but is also a master of the power nap. We often find her completely relaxed and sacked out in her kennel, recharging for more cuddles. Dixie would love nothing more than to curl up beside you for some quality snuggle time. ❤️‍🩹 To keep this precious girl feeling her best, Dixie has a special Hills prescription diet which has been better for her health and happiness. 🛑🛑LOLLY AND CATHAL NEED THEIR COMMUNITY'S HELP!🛑🛑

You see....Lolly and Cathal are heartworm positive. 😞 They had a job....to hunt. Typical of their breed, of course....what's NOT typical is how they were being taken care of.

A few weeks back Cathal (who had a history at the shelter) came in as a stray. Her physical condition prompted a welfare check on the property she came from. Long story VERY short.....Culpeper Animal Control Officers quickly seized the remaining hounds on the property.

Kept in improper outdoor enclosures, the summer rain had created VERY deep mud with no escape for the dogs (one of which was tethered inside the enclosure with no roof). The only water available was FAR from drinkable and the Animal Control Officers on scene took quick action for the well being of the dogs.

All 10 hounds that were ultimately signed over to the shelter/completed their stray hold were in need of groceries as they were VERY skinny/emaciated.....most had tick borne diseases, all had MULTIPLE parasites that are being treated.

But LOLLY and CATHAL have one more thing to overcome.......HEARTWORM DISEASE (a very preventable condition!!). Heartworms not only cause heart damage.....they also cause lung and organ damage. HEARTWORMS ARE DEADLY and if Animal Control had not taken them when they did the fate of these sweet dogs was uncertain, at best!

These guys do NOT deserve the hand they were dealt! Lolly and Cathal do NOT deserve the hand they were dealt and now it's up to us to fix it!

Thanks to our friends at Fauquier SPCA, our monetary goal is 700$ to complete the treatment Lolly and Cathal will need in order to live a happy DOG life! Let's show these ladies that THE COMMUNITY LOVES THEM!!!!!!! Because we DO!!!
