Dear Happy Tails Family,
As Happy Tails has continued to grow, so has our commitment to providing the safest, happiest, and most enriching environment possible for every dog in our care. We are constantly evaluating our programs to ensure every dog receives the best experience we can provide.
With that goal in mind, we are updating one of our participation policies.
Effective June 2026, all male dogs over six months of age participating in Boarding, Daycare, or Balance Pack Club must be neutered. Intact (unneutered) male dogs over six months of age will no longer be eligible for these services.
This decision was not made lightly. Our programs are built around structured socialization, supervised playgroups, pack walks, enrichment activities, and helping dogs enjoy their time with us in a calm, balanced environment. While many intact males are wonderful dogs, they are generally not appropriate candidates for group play, as hormonal behaviors can increase the likelihood of tension or conflict within a social setting.
Because intact males are unable to safely participate in many of the activities that make Happy Tails unique, we simply don't feel we can provide them with the same level of freedom, fulfillment, and overall experience that we strive to offer every dog. Rather than limiting their participation or creating separate accommodations, we believe this policy is the fairest and safest approach for all dogs in our care.
We understand that every dog is different, and some veterinarians recommend waiting longer before neutering certain breeds. We completely respect that every owner should make the decision they feel is best for their dog in consultation with their veterinarian. This policy is not intended to replace veterinary advice; it is simply a participation requirement for our Boarding, Daycare, and Balance Pack Club programs and will be applied consistently to all clients.
If you already have a Boarding, Daycare, or Balance Pack Club reservation scheduled, don't worry! Any existing reservations made prior to this announcement will be honored. This new policy will apply to future reservations made after this update.
