We have people going late at night feeding cats in different areas around town. Cutting gallon jugs in half, filling them with water and we have picked up many of them. STOP FEEDING THE CAT COLONIES UNLESS YOU WANT TO BECOME RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM (which we will loan you a trap to catch them). Cuero PD is aware of these areas and will be watching them closely for those of you who feed, and you will be issued a citation
§ 3.01.013 Feeding of cats prohibited in certain places.
(a) Feeding on public property:
It shall be unlawful for any person to feed, whether by leaving food for or otherwise, any cat on public property, including, without limitation, on any property owned in fee simple or controlled by the city as an easement or public right-of-way.
(b) Feeding on private property:
It shall be unlawful for any person, other than the owner of the property, to feed, whether by leaving food for or otherwise, any cat on private property without the consent of the owner of the property.
(c) Exception:
It shall be an affirmative defense to prosecution under subsection (a) of this section that the person feeding a cat on public property is only placing food within a working trap that has been placed on public property with the written permission of the city manager.

🐾Owner Found🐾
This dog was picked up right past pet adoptions in the middle of the highway. This dog is super smart, knows basic commands, very friendly, and we need to find his owner.  if you know where this dog belongs, please contact Nicole at 361-210-9773.

💔This girl Jenna that was adopted mid November is needing another home. She absolutely loves her human and needs a home with no kids as she doesn’t want to share the attention her human gives her due to the lack of attention and love she did not get for so many years before coming to Animal Control. The adopter absolutely loves her but the risk of something happening is not worth it. So I’m begging for help so she does not have to come back to the shelter where she sat for almost a year.
What she needs is a home without small children, and no cats! She would absolutely be perfect for someone that is retired looking for that companionship

So sad that a shelter will have to make a decision to euthanize perfectly well behaved dogs due to owner failure. But if they post regarding a big blockheaded bully, they receive 75+ calls about adopting that specific dog! Make it make sense please!?! We don’t want to have to put any dogs down 😭😭😭

We are completely at capacity and we have multiple dogs coming in and dogs are going to be euthanized. The last intakes are three females and two puppies that are out in the play yard because I have nowhere to put them. Dogs will be put down for space if no one steps up to either foster or adopt. There is no outside humane society/shelter that will take any large dogs in or around Cuero.

HE HAS BEEN ADOPTED
Blue making his debut. Before anyone asks, he will be neutered before adoption, which means no babies will be made in the future. 

Pupdate Blue has been adopted!!!

Blue is a 5 year old Pit Bull. He is very quiet and is considered a velcro pup. He loves giving kisses and loves to snuggle. Don't let his appearance fool you, he gets very excited meeting new people. Blue came from a home with multiple other dogs, and hasn't shown any aggression with any of the shelter cats. Blue will be microchipped and neutered upon adoption.

Update: I took this dog home last night and he is just fine with other dogs. He looks away when a cat looks at him. He’s house trained he’s potty trained and from what my daughter says he is the best snuggler ever. Only to a good home where he will be kept indoors, but I need someone to get him. He’s been tossed around way too much and it’s not fair. 

I’m seeing if I can help this family out. This dog was adopted from Victoria 3 months ago and it’s a long story but he needs a soft place to land before he has to go back into the shelter. He is an older dog maybe 5ish, he is fixed and micro chipped and so very sweet and calm natured. seems to be house and potty trained, and has been around other dogs and no reaction to cats .
Right now he is very confused and this bouncing around from one place to another has his heartbroken.

Trapped big beautiful black cat off of E Newman. If this is your cat, please come to the animal control facility or contact Nicole at 361-210-9773. Unfortunately, there are no distinguishing markings as he/she is solid black and I am unable to tell if the cat is male or female, but looks very healthy. 
It’s almost impossible to determine a feral from an owned cat when they are trapped because they all act the same as they are terrified.

Happy Thanksgiving from the place we call home. Hopefully each one of these dogs at the shelter, which is a total of 15, will be able to see what it’s like to be loved and comforted during the holidays this year.
