We are a full service veterinary hospital offering in-house laboratory, digital radiology, ultrasound, dentistry, wellness visits, vaccinations, surgical suite, as well as acupuncture, Chinese herbs and holistic, natural approaches. Our patients include dogs, cats as well as exotics, such as birds, reptiles and small mammals.

Cute? Absolutely. But summer heat can be dangerous—even for pups this adorable. ☀️🐾

Here are a few important summer safety reminders for pet owners:

1. Hot pavement can burn paws.
Walk your dog during cooler times of day—early morning or evening. Test the pavement with the back of your hand. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them.

2. Don’t shave double-coated breeds.
Dogs like golden retrievers, huskies, and Pomeranians have coats that help regulate body temperature and protect from sunburn. Shaving can actually increase their risk of overheating.

3. Know the signs of heat stroke.
Watch for excessive panting or drooling, vomiting, unsteady walking, or red/purple gums. If their temperature is over 105°F, call your vet immediately.

Talk to your veterinarian about safe grooming options and pet-safe sunscreen.

Yogi brought some extra-special emotional support to the clinic today—his trusty stuffed animal, Rufus! Yogi was a little nervous at first, but Rufus was right by his side, showing him how to be brave for his blood draws, X-rays, IV catheter, and fluids. By the end of the day, Yogi was feeling like a champ and even went for a walk outside—with his best buddy Rufus leading the way, of course!

While you enjoy the long weekend, don’t forget to look out for your pets:

* Keep them away from hot grills and BBQ scraps.
* Avoid picnic foods that are toxic to animals, like chocolate, grapes, and onions.
* Fireworks can cause stress and fear—secure pets indoors in a quiet, calm space.
* Make sure ID tags and microchip info are up to date in case they get spooked and run off.
