Sometimes with horses it can be so hard to tell if you’re making any progress, and I am often my toughest critic. We jumped the wall for the first time today but he also went wayyy to deep on several distances. But it’s crazy to think how much progress we’ve made in just 6 months. Good job Poke!

The boy can jump! 💫 Oakie has been so nonchalant about jumps that we weren’t sure he had it in him for a while there. He did cross rails today at the Sally Cousins clinic and impressed me so much. He didn’t so much as bat an eye and tried his best!

Oakie had had his first outing to school at Lochmoy during the Dover Highland Series Horse Trials. I kind of threw him off the deep end and I could not be more proud of him!

✅ loaded
✅ stood like an angel at the trailer while his 🌶️ sister screamed and pawed
✅ walked through a CRAZY show grounds (they had 300+ entries this weekend). At one point another horse reared next to him in a tight passage and he just walked it off
✅ hacked in two schooling rings with 10+ horses going every which way. Had dressage tests, cross country, and show jumping happening around him. The worst he did was look outside the ring and some giraffe necking

A big two weeks for the main man as we started riding again for spring! He has been absolutely fantastic at picking up right where we left him off. Lots of work with using his hind end, poles, group lessons, and being handled and ridden by my barn buddies. He also got spring vaccines and round two of floating and is ready to keep building that thick dad bod. We’re going out to school this weekend at the Dover Highland horse trials for our first ever outing! Good boy Oakie ❤️
