Halloween 2026 was one of the best.
When we moved to our neighborhood two years ago, we knew this was where we belonged. It took us a long time - and many homes viewed - before we found this one.

And I’m glad we held out for the one that felt like home the moment we walked in.

Our neighbors are the ones we’ve dreamed of for many years. The ones who wave and stop over just to chat. The ones who check on your home when you’re away. The ones who invite you over for b**r and football.

We didn’t want a fancy schmancy neighborhood.
That’s not us.
We wanted this.

It took us many years and a lot of hard work to get here.
Sitting on our driveway on Halloween, chatting with the kids and parents is our favorite new tradition.

Let this be a reminder that if you’re waiting for the perfect time to make a change - a job, a home, a child, a car, etc. - don’t wait.
Just do it.
You won’t regret it.

Happy Halloween!!

4 years ago, I happily escorted this beautiful pittie girl to a fall festival in Valparaiso.

At the time, Ladybug was up for adoption at Lakeshore PAWS, and she LOVED getting out of the shelter and going for adventures. And honestly, who wouldn’t? We pride ourselves on keeping a clean and pleasant shelter, but getting out of there for a bit is imperative to the dogs’ mental health.

Ladybug & I had so much fun listening to live music, participating in a costume contest, and meeting lots of humans and other pups. She was dressed as a prisoner of love 🥰 and I was Jerry from Tom & Jerry.

Her tail never stopped wagging 😍

And a week later, she was adopted!
Looking back on these memories is such a joy. I’m so lucky to be a part of these worthy pups’ lives!

And remember: Judge the heart of the dog, not the breed ❤️

In 2013, Jeff and I wanted to make super creative pumpkins. I painted mine yellow and did nothing with it 🤣 (intended to make a 3D minion, but I didn’t do it.

We were immensely into the show Breaking Bad, which I will forever proclaim to be one of the most intriguing, well-written shows ever created.

I don’t go into enough detail about how talented Jeff is. He can legitimately look at something and say “I can make that”
and just…make it. He is a true craftsman and has an eye for detail and aesthetics.

He wanted to make the Walter White (Heisenberg) character from Breaking Bad for his pumpkin. I was skeptical. I shouldn’t have been. He freehanded this in a ridiculously short period of time.

I made a Batman pumpkin that was super cool once, but I have no idea if there is a printed picture of it somewhere in a box lol. But that’s about the extent of my pumpkin carving talents 😂
