​Meet Koda! This handsome Labrador just wrapped up his 3-week Residency Training program, and I could not be prouder of how far he has come! 🐾✨
​Anyone who has ever loved a Lab knows exactly how incredible their energy is—but sometimes, that big puppy energy can feel completely overwhelming. When Koda's owners first reached out to me, they were feeling stuck. They loved him dearly but simply didn't know how to handle his intense jumping, constant chewing, and total lack of obedience.
​During his three weeks with me at Your Dog's 2nd Home, Koda worked so hard. We focused on channeling that textbook Lab energy into focus, manners, and reliable impulse control. He learned that he can still be his fun, happy self without knocking people over or chewing on things he shouldn't! 🚫👟
​A huge shoutout to his owners for trusting me with their boy and putting in the work to maintain his training at home. Koda is going home a much more polite, well-mannered gentleman, and I can't wait to see him and his family thrive together!

​I am absolutely thrilled and deeply humbled to share that Your Dog's 2nd Home has officially placed 3rd for Dog Training in The Times 2026 Best of the Region: Services! 🥉✨
​When I started this business, my dream was to create a safe, supportive space where dogs didn't just stay, but where they could learn, grow, and build incredible bonds with their families. Running a small business on my own takes a lot of heart, long hours, and pure dedication—so seeing that hard work recognized by you, my NWI community, is the ultimate reward.

​This is Deke. Before we started, Deke would try to destroy remote control cars and was extremely fearful of sudden noises. Today, his owner sent me this video of their homework.
​Look at his restraint! He stays on his "Place" even with the car zooming and clicking around him. This is what desensitization is all about—building confidence and impulse control one step at a time.

​Working with Hershey and Biz at Wicker Park today on reactivity. The goal isn't just "walking," it's learning how to coexist with other dogs without the chaos.

🐾 Meet Radley: A Stunning English Cream Golden Retriever in Search of a Leader 🐾
​It is impossible not to fall in love with a face like Radley’s. At 16 months old, he is a breathtaking, full-blooded English Cream Retriever neutered, healthy, and full of that young Golden energy.
​However, Radley is not your typical plug-and-play family dog. He is a sensitive, smart boy who hasn't yet learned how to share his treasures,and this has led to resource guarding behaviors. Because he has snapped at the children in his current home when he feels his space or items are threatened, we are seeking a very specific environment for him to ensure everyone stays safe and happy.
​🏠 Radley’s Non-Negotiables:
​Adult-Only Home: This is a firm requirement. No children or consistent young visitors. Radley needs a calm, mature environment where his boundaries are respected.
​Breed-Savvy Owner: We are looking for someone who understands the working side of Retrievers. He needs a leader who is experienced with resource guarding and can provide the structure and professional training he needs to succeed.
​Space & Activity: He is a young athlete! A fenced-in yard and an active owner who will give his brain and body a job to do are essential.
​✨ The Reward
​For the right person, Radley will be the companion of a lifetime. He is incredibly smart, food-motivated (great for training!), and has so much love to give in an environment where he feels secure.
​His family is heartbroken but wants the absolute best for him. They are willing to keep him in their home until the perfect, qualified match is found.

​What You’ll Be Doing:
​Assisting with dog handling and leash work.
​Walking dogs for various distances (must be comfortable being on your feet!).
​Ensuring our furry clients are happy, safe, and well-cared for.

✅ Must be physically able to walk long distances and handle dogs on a leash.

Home Sweet (and Quiet) Home 🏡
​Hard work pays off! I’ve been working with Jamie and Laura and their GSD Zara on tackling some big behaviors that were making home life a bit stressful:
​Doorbell Reactivity: Turning Stranger Danger into No Big Deal.
​Fence Fighting: Ending the drama with the neighborhood dogs.
​Impulse Control: Teaching Zara how to hit the pause button.
​By using my In-Home Coaching Plan, we were able to work directly in their own home the exact environment where these triggers happen every day. This allowed us to build custom routines at the front door and in the backyard, giving Jamie and Laura the hands-on skills to manage Zara’s behavior in real-time.
​Zara is making huge strides, and Nala (right) is clearly enjoying having a much calmer sister to hang out with! Great job, team! 👏

​This is a heart-wrenching decision for his current family, but they know he needs a specific environment to truly thrive.

Beautiful day for some training at Wicker Park! 🌳
​I had the pleasure of working with Biz today on his leash skills. He’s doing a great job listening to his owner and navigating distractions. Northwest Indiana has some great spots for practice, and Wicker Park is definitely one of our favorites!
