Love, love, getting updates from our puppy homes! We recently received an update from Mija's dad. Mija (light blue collar/Newt) is from our first litter (Ink x Ripley)(2023). He gave us permission to share here. 🥰
"I work from home 99% of the time and Mija likes to be with me in my office, usually lounging in her chair looking out the window or napping. She likes to play prior to starting work, after lunch, mid-afternoon and evening. She also loves going to the park or other places, especially if she gets to meet new people!
Mija likes to keep an eye out for danger, alerting me of wildlife and neighbor activities.
We've been working on strengthening Mijas heel and recall over the last couple months. Her recall around the house is really strong, with just the biggest distractions interfering but she is improving! The recall training we've been doing has been helping with breaking her attention from the neighbor dog, so I am seeing some really good response even under distraction!
Mija is really good for maintenance, inspection activities by myself and the vet. She loves to go the vet! She is very good for nail trimming, jumps right up onto a camping cot I have and lays on her side and lets me dremel her nails.
I have her heel when I get her food, walk her to some location and have her sit and stay. Then I dish out her kibble, and either "break" or call her to me, heel some more (calmly) to her food. I'm anticipating that this training will make our walks at the park a little less "atheletic" for me. :)
Even though I am with Mija most of the time, I do occasionally leave her home to go to the office or some other errand for a few hours and she handles that very well (no anxiety).
All in all, Mija is a very happy girl and my son and I love her so much! It definitely would not be the same around here without her!"
Mija's dad is a great example of taking the genetics and foundations laid out for him and then continuing to see the training through in order to help his girl shine. A perfect home for a Soluna Doberman! These guys are incredibly smart and require not only exercise but also daily structure and training 💕
