The Island of Misfit Dogs Rescue and Sanctuary Here on The Island of Misfit Dogs, we see the value in every dog. We work with shelters and fellow rescues along the East Coast.

Our mission is to save dogs, who have been abandoned or surrendered, and to find them the perfect forever homes. Our goal is to provide vetting and socialization to dogs in need so they may find new families and live long, happy lives. Your donations support this effort, and provide food, enrichment, and veterinary care. Our dogs are spayed & neutered, and fully vaccinated before leaving our facil

ity. We provide flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives to our incoming dogs and complete dental exams. Each dog who comes to 'the island' is in a home-based environment and becomes part of our pack. We do not kennel or board our dogs, as we believe kindness, consistent human contact, and friendship of the other dogs improves their self-esteem and readies them for a bright future.

This morning, we said a sad goodbye to our sweet Grandma Gracie. She quickly deteriorated in the last few days and let us know that she was ready to go. We knew we didn’t have long to make up for her terrible past, but she did enjoy a year of peaceful retirement here, with lots of comfy places to nap, and unlimited snacks. Her favorite things were napping, snacking, and butt scratches. Gracie girl, you were loved very much and we are so glad you have found peace, and got to experience some happiness in this life.
