My Babies! This is my breeding pair of normal ball pythons. On top is Big Momma and below her is her husband Tyson. She just had a clutch a few days ago so she's very upset with me since I took her babies. I've had a lot of people ask me about the paper towels I use in my enclosures and I have a few reasons for it. 1. Monitoring. It's sometimes hard to see any dark spots or injuries on animals when they're hiding in the dirt. Paper towels give me a good contrast between them and their surroundings. Monitoring their f***s is also a good reason to use paper towels. 2. clean. It's a lot easier to take them out and clean the enclosure that just has paper towels down. You can see when it needs to be cleaned out and handle it before it draws in flies or anything else. 3. Bugs. it happens. Flys can get into the dirt and lay eggs and cause all sorts of problems. Mites are a huge issue with reptiles and they kill the animals quickly if not handled in time. Mites hide in bedding and just about anything. I've had animal bedding from Walmart have issues with mites. Better safe than sorry. 4. safety. Big momma is not nice. Especially after laying her clutch. Momma's are protective. if there's a bunch of stuff in the way I could hurt her or myself. Having my eyes on her at all times is my number one priority when coming in and out of this enclosure. Not all of my animals live on paper towels. Each has their own needs and each has their own rolls to play. I'm Not worried so much about the breeder Crested geckos since they live higher up and the dirt at the bottom other than the worms escaping into it isn't much of a problem and they want to hide their eggs. Same as the breeder Leapord geckos. But the babies are on paper. If they eat dirt they could be compacted and it can kill them. I've had many people upset about how I handle and keep my animals but I can assure you they are all taken care of and happy and healthy. We welcome friendly interactions and information but please keep your negativity to yourself.
