Celebrating my 3rd year on Facebook. Thank you for your continuing support. I could never have made it without you. 🙏🤗🎉
Im amazed everyday when I wake up, the orders I get from my site, the messages I get daily and the graditute I feel sometimes is overwhelming.
I have gained a few thousand followers in the last couple months so I want to do a re-introduction to everyone here.
My name is Kim and I am an almost 40 year old mom and wife. Whew, a few years to 40. I have the craziest humor, just check the website descriptions lmao. Growing up in NY, my dad and step mom took all the kids on trips every year and we did some cool stuff. When we went to Quebec, my step brother and I gathered tadpoles in a paddle boat. It made my dad so mad. They had the best chocolate bars and bugs you could ever dream of. My dad caught a prized fish there and still has it stuffed on his wall to this day.
As I got older, I stopped going to my dads. I think thats my biggest regret. I lost alot of time. Time you can never get back. I lived with my mom and siblings in the city of Rochester NY. We werent poor by choice. That is all I will say without going to deep. I got a job at 15 and worked. Illegally drove my moms mini van as I got into high school. I took trade classes, hvac and electrical. Worked 4-10pm most nights at McDonald's and took care of my siblings. Met my one and only best friend that still currently lives there even though I have tried to get her to move.
After my first divorce, I moved away to Indianapolis IN for a job. It is freezing there in winter. Its all flat land. I worked as a licensed insurance agent by day and a waitress at night. (I told my now husband when I met him that I was a stripper at night, which was hilarious). We met on tinder and the rest is history. I ended up moving to NC and this is where my reptile and bug passion really kicked up. 6 years ago.
I know there are people that have been in the hobby far longer and I commend them. However, I dont think time is the teller of the quality of breeder youll meet. I think its a combination of morals, drive, outwardly respect and passion that makes a breeder a good one. I have never sold anyone a wild caught anything without their full knowledge and without them knowing what they are getting into. I actually try to deter them because its a different animal literally. Some people though like myself, prefer to try it out that way and I have nothing against it if its done the right way. If ppl are s3lling them without telling them thats the problem.
I stay out of groups besides the ones for isopod keepers and a few others some friends have. You will very rarely ever see me comment on a post that talks about a negative in this hobby. Unless its directly related to myself or if I know the person and think its wrong. Outside of that, i dont care what others do. It just frankly isnt my business and I would rather put that effort into my own buisness.
We have gone through alot in NC. Hurricane, which very much happened and destroyed our lives for awhile. My husbands knee injury that still has not been fixed almost 2 years later. Now, august 28th I am finally having my much needed hysterectomy. So I will be outta commission for awhile this end of summer/fall. But dont worry, I have my fun annual mystery box event this summer again that will lead up to my absence.
I will also be donating to Ryne pavy for his son's surgery and baby girls arrival. I havent planned it out yet but it will come soon. After I put together my closet again that is lol. Electrical should be done today hopefully. I dont know Ryne personally however this community came together for me when hurricane helene hit and I can only give back the way I know how. Through bugs.
Most of all, if you made it this far THANK YOU. You guys have turned this into far more than I ever could have imagined. Sone weeks I am in awe over the support. I promise to continue to deliever the highest quality of inverts that i possibly can to you all. And this year hopefully kicks off some reptiles too!
Id love to get to know some of you so leave a comment and tell me a little about yourselves and what you keep or what you are looking to keep!
My male dumbara. He is so much more friendly than my female that hides away all the time. Last week I caught my female hanging ontop of him and I think she was trying to help him shed. It was pretty cool cause I have never seen her do this.
