Great Staff from the Receptionists to Techs to the Veterinarians. We are always grateful for their Caring attitude and direction. They are Professional and kind. We are continued Customers for over 25 years.
In February we topped off our COVID-19 struggle with a month of closed Saturdays due to staffing constraints. On March 5th we are not only able to treat patients on Saturdays again but we are also opening up our lobby to pet owners. We will no longer limit the number of owners per pet in an exam room, but at this time we still require that you wear a mask. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Today and every day we are grateful for our incredible members! This we wanted to give a shoutout to those who renewed their membership for 2022 this week! Special thanks to:

The sass is real!!
Wi******er is moving into his late stage puppy months, and he’s on 🔥.
He will tell you when it’s dinner time, he will eat your shoes, your furniture and on occasion poor Clark.
Win enjoys car rides, and loves our vet at VCA Covington Animal Hospital.
We are having trouble with the chewing though. Suggestions for a teething pup?
Have a great weekend friends!
Greetings to all of our clients who have stuck with us for the last year of challenges. We all appreciate your patience as we try and navigate a world of masks, social distancing, and curbside care.
I am here with a big ask.
We are in need of a veterinary assistant and a receptionist.
If you, or someone you know has great customer service skills, loves people and their pets, and is able to work in a high stress environment, VCA Covington Animal Hospital would like you to consider us for a new career opportunity. All applicants must have basic skill sets in their area of interest. We will provide additional training. If anyone is interested please apply online on the INDEED website. OR reach out to me at
paula.jones-pace@vca.com. I ask that you do not call the hospital directly as the receptionist need to focus on patient care.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope everyone has a great and safe weekend

When Fermi, my cat, recently became ill, my prior vet couldn't see her for a few days. So I called VCA Covington Animal Hospital. They got me in that day. If I hadn't taken Fermi in, she would have died from kidney failure. The whole staff is friendly and knowledgeable. After examining Fermi and getting test results, Dr. Walsh was very thorough and spent a significant amount of time explaining Fermi's condition and the treatment options. Now, Fermi is great. I can't say enough wonderful things about VCA.
My next time I have to take my cat to the vet I am not using VCA Covington. They have excellent vets. I brought my cat in for his shots and an exam. I explained he might need an antihistamine. They quoted me without the price...they charge sixty plus dollars for it and when I explained that I was not told there was no reduction of the charge. I got an explanation that the tech was new...
We aren't able to personally visit all of our members during Small Business Week, but we do want to thank them for choosing the Covington area for their business. We appreciate each and every one!

After my rotten experience and subsequent bad reviews that I posted I think I should post an update. I was graciously contacted by the facility manager, Paula after my recent inexcusable experience with Dr. Walsh and the challenging responses I received to a question I had asked from the newest DVM, Dr. Publicover who was treating my cat. Paula took the time to hear me and what I had been trying to ask of everyone I spoke to, without jumping to conclusions. Without assuming she new what and why I was asking my question. Without treating me with a, "holier than thou", gruff, or dismissive tone or mentality. For 5 minutes she silently let me explain what I had been trying to ask, why I was asking, how my questions were answered (or not), and how I was treated when I asked. ....it was then that she understood, as either of the DVMs would have had first Dr. Publicover spoke to me instead of passing verbal messages to me via the technician or front office person who was stuck in the middle or had Dr. Walsh taken a moment to HEAR what I was trying to ask. Or had either of them treated me with a single ounce of respect. It was an ordeal to say the least and perhaps they all were just having a bad week but at that time, for me it was the worst experience I could have had.
I had previously had wonderful experiences at this clinic with Dr. Walls. The Medical Director at this location. He is an incredible human who is wonderful with animals and humans alike. The same can be said for Paula whom I had also worked with previously. Truly gracious individuals.
Since that unfortunate experience with my cat, I had a medical emergency arise with my geriatric dog, a Great Dane. (Previously seen by Dr. Walls) I believed we were going to need to put him down. He was in tremendous pain and could not get up. It was so bad he soiled himself. We were approaching a weekend and in desperation I swallowed my pride and prepared myself for the uncomfortable conversation and reached out to VCA Covington to see if Dr. Walls was available. The well being of my dog was greater than the experience I had had. He was unavailable but I was offered to see Dr. Howard with my dog...if I could get him up and get him to the office. (No easy thing when he is over 250# and screaming in pain any time he moves.) With a lot of effort and creative manipulating, my tiny 12 year old and I got him in where he was able to see Dr. Howard, xrays done, and a treatment plan devised for his degenerative condition. I am happy to say, we didn't need to put him down yet and he is quite comfortable under her treatment plan.
Dr. Howard, despite my now bad reputation at the clinic, was as sweet and kind to both myself and my dog etc. She listened, she didn't dismiss me, she believed me when I described how he had been behaving at home. (Although when he got there he was being very stoic, the turkey.) She didn't treat me like I was a bad pet parent. She saw how much I love my animals. She saw that I was doing all I could to balance that fine line of their immediate comfort and their big picture well being. She had compassion. She listened to understand. She was professional. She was respectful. She took the time to hear. She took the time to explain. She cared. She showed tremendous empathy and limitless patience. She rose above whatever inner office drama there might be to do what was in the best interest of the animal while at the same time showing respect and empathy to me. THAT is what it means to be an excellent DVM and an above reproach professional.
...and that is absolutely priceless. I am humbled by her graciousness and reminded of the perspective I need to hold dear.
Nittany Lion, and his family, wish you a Happy New Year!!! Thanks for all you do. 💙
Happy Veterinary Technician Week to all of you at VCA!! We can't thank you enough, especially during this difficult year. Thank you for being available to us and to our furry family members. You rock!!!!
