Ravenel Freeze Dry is family owned and operated with over 17 years of experience -- specializing in freeze dry turkey heads. We offer freeze dried turkey heads as well as stock heads (when available). Each head is skinned and then soaked in a moth proofing solution which eliminates insect problems. There are many poses available which gives the taxidermist a wide range of positions to choose from

for mounting their customer’s turkeys. We have extensive experience in the freeze-drying of turkey heads, pets, reptiles, small mammals, velvet antlers, gator heads, and much more. If the item you want to freeze dry is not listed on our webpage, please contact us for pricing and estimated turn around time.

With hot weather and higher temperatures starting up 🥵, we thought we should send out some shipping reminders.

🦃 ALWAYS CALL before you ship anything. We will be taking vacation days during these warmer months. If you ship something and we are not here to take it in, more than likely it will spoil. Be sure and ship your specimens to:

🦃 Always ship on Monday (at the very latest on Tuesday).

🦃 Even though we cannot guarantee their reliability, we suggest using UPS. If you ship US mail, anticipate that it will take at least a week to get here. And whatever you do, DO NOT ship FedEx because they cannot find our address.

🦃 Bubble wrap is not insulation. Your specimens will thaw if wrapped in bubble wrap.

🦃 DO NOT require a signature to make the delivery.

🦃 Freeze multiple turkey heads together in a plastic bag and triple bag or ship in a disposable water tight container insulated with household insulation or newspapers, etc. If it leaks during shipment, there is a good possibility that the shipping company will throw your package away to prevent damage to other customers’ packages.

It summertime and the temperature is starting to get HOT 🥵 !! Please, please, please call BEFORE you ship us your turkey heads, antlers, or deer feet to make sure we are going to be here to immediately put your specimens in the freezer!

We will be taking a vacation in the coming weeks so if you wait and call after you ship your heads and we are on vacation that week, they will more than likely be spoiled before we get back in town to put them in the freezer. So again, ALWAYS CALL BEFORE YOU SHIP YOUR SPECIMENS ! Thanks!!

Ravenel Freeze Dry will be at the Georgia Taxidermy Convention in Macon, GA on March 1, 2024 (Friday Only). Give us a call, email or text us if you have turkey heads, velvet antlers or deer feet you want us to pick up for freeze drying so we can bring coolers.

Starting January 1, 2024 our prices will be going up. We haven’t increased our prices for over 2 years, but just like your taxidermy supplies, our supplies have been creeping up. We wanted to let you know about the price increase before turkey season started next year so you could plan accordingly with your prices. So if you want the current prices, be sure and get your turkey heads to us before January 1st.
