I have been a fan of canine fitness and conditioning for years. I’ve learned a lot through seminars and also the rehab of my own dogs following injuries. I am intent on including a canine fitness component in my training program for our trainees learning detection. Canine conditioning has been empirically proven to extend the working time of a K9 by two years. That’s significant.
The first step on my journey to professionalize myself with regard to canine fitness is complete! Over the next year I will be continuing my studies through the Northeast K9 Conditioning Academy with the end goal of becoming a Certified Canine Athlete Specialist (CCAS).
Our detection trainees will leave here with not only strong sniffers, but strong bodies too!
