The Isabel Project

The Isabel Project For Rescuing Displaced Performance Horses People don't give themselves enough credit. We don't think what we do can make much of a difference.

We don't seem to believe the words we speak (or don't speak) are weighty enough to make an impact on others. But I have seen one man rock the world, and I've seen one word change a life...

As the Isabel Project is born, I'm calling for a change in perspective. If we took the energy we spent doubting ourselves, and all the words we speak judging each other, and we poured it into making a positive

impact, imagine the mountains we could move. I'm not here to pass judgement on the owners and trainers of race horses. I've lived that life, and the industry itself is incredibly hard on everyone. You put all you've got into caring for your animals, work tirelessly around the clock, and when race day comes, you hope to God some talent shows up on the track wearing your silks and numbers.... and that luck is on your side. When a horse is injured or doesn't have the heart to compete, he becomes a huge cost and liability. Trainers are often put in a difficult position... quickly get rid of the horses that aren't up to par, or risk not being able to feed and care for the rest. Horse racing is a poker game, the horses are the cards, and tragically a great number of them end up being discarded. Amazingly talented athletes, young, big-hearted horses and the most incredible, trusting, loyal friends end up losing their lives because nobody ever knows they're there. My vision for the Isabel Project STARTS with being the change. Horses have given me so much, and I'm calling for help to give back. A horse at the end of his racing career is still very young and his potential in our world is vast. It's my mission to take these horses in, bring their feet back to the ground and their minds out of the circular space in which they live. My experience and understanding of where they've been can help set them on the path to where they're going.... to their forever homes with you. If one man's trash is another man's treasure, you could say I'm in the business of gem hunting. So come have a look and I think you'll agree: These horses really are priceless.

I haven’t had the time to tell the story yet, but this is Jose. He appears to be a lab and pitbull cross. He was dumped on 95 last night, and I picked him and his brother up this morning. He and his brother Jack need vet work, and they need a home. Please share.
