A proud moment for Iron Point Retrievers.

Without Co-Founder Scott Arceneaux and TRU, there would be no Iron Point. TRU came from our very first pairing:

HRCH Shadden’s Taking It Down Memory Lane MH

Scott purchased TRU, the only female from that litter. Since then we’ve become close friends, and Scott has proven to be a true dog man—someone who lives, breathes, and studies dogs constantly. The results of that dedication are showing.

At the Feliciana Retriever Club SRS event, TRU placed in her very first SRS trial at just 27 months old, and she was also the youngest dog in the field by nearly two years.

After a tough first series, they rebounded with the second-best score in the second series, moving into the semifinals. In the semifinals TRU posted the best score of the round, putting them into second place heading into the finals.

They ultimately finished 5th overall, earning 2 points toward her SRS title and now needing only 2 more points to qualify for the Crown Championship.

Scott and TRU are a special team, and this is just the beginning of what they’re capable of.

Introducing a Thrower to Puppy Marks 🐾

Adding in a thrower to puppy marks allows us to introduce running to a fall area early and correctly.

This is where confidence and understanding start to build.

We make sure to:
• Work on low-cut grass
• Use white bumpers for visibility
• Keep sessions short
• Keep it fun and upbeat

At this stage, it’s all about enthusiasm, exposure, and building a young dog that loves going where something fell.

We’re not chasing perfection — we’re building desire and understanding.

“He’s a really intellectual dog. Since we brought him home—and now in the field—he’s a problem solver. He does great in all environments, which all started with Joe and Whitney’s whelping/raising program and continued with us. He’s a good-looking dog as well. He wants to work and is very driven (by prey and food). I could go on and on 😂 Also love his off switch in the house—it’s great.”

Out of one of our early foundation litters, Scout represents everything we believed in from the start.

She is the product of our first pairing between

and
HRCH Shadden’s Taking It Down Memory Lane, MH.

That cross was built with intention—power, drive, trainability, and real-world performance—and Scout is proof of concept. Athletic, confident, and mentally steady, she carries the genetics and attitude we set out to produce from day one.

Scout is currently in professional training with the very reputable Apex Retrievers out of Elm Creek where she continues to progress both technically and mentally. The plan is to campaign her in HRC and AKC events as she moves forward.

Seeing dogs like Scout continue to develop and thrive is a reminder of why those early decisions mattered. This pairing helped lay the groundwork for everything that followed—and Scout wears that legacy proudly.
