There's Nothing Odd About... Fixing a sinkhole.

Our local USPS had an old terracotta freshwater drain pipe crack, which caused a sinkhole along the side of their building. It's a perfect little job for our new mini excavator.

Bob already repaired the most significant of the cracks, and there are several others that need attention. One of the exhaust pipes was pretty well crimped, and the final pipe was pretty narrow, so he's replacing that whole piece.

I wasn't around for the first mini job that Bob did, which was ripping out a bunch of thorny bushes (probably multiflora rose) that were very in his way... but I caught him today doing the first real job, part of which was lowering the dirt at the entrance to the garage so he could get through the door, but then completely regrading and cleaning out the area just outside of our chicken coop to create better drainage. It's been a struggle to keep this area drained since we moved in, and now we have the machine to be able to do it right!
