The time has come to announce our final decision for the future of our program here at Canyonside. Due to my recent medical diagnoses and physical limitations, I find it best to part ways with my American Cocker Spaniels. Although the smallest breed in AKC’s Sporting group, they have needs that will simply be beyond my ability going forward. The love I have for the breed will remain forever, and I am happy to refer anyone on our waitlist to some wonderful breeders for their future puppy needs.

As for us, we are going to switch focus entirely to Toy / Non-Sporting Companion breeds. It will be quite some time before we have puppies again, but we will still post updates as our future mamas grow. 🩷

Miss Brownie Bliss did great this past week! She learned “sit” and “lay down” commands. House training is going a little slower but she’s made some progress there, too.
We are working on building a dog potty area in the garage for this winter since our average amount of snow is deeper than Brownie is tall. Hopefully that will help us keep consistency despite upcoming mountain weather.

Some changes are in the baking! ;)
We are downsizing our Cockers to make room for something new.
As much as I adore my Cockers, and always will, grooming and upkeep for them has become increasingly difficult for me with my autoimmune flares getting worse and more frequent.
To continue my passion of raising pups with health first and foremost (for them and myself) I have made the decision to add a small breed to my program! We will be welcoming AKC Shih Tzus to Canyonside very soon.
In the meantime, we will still be planning one litter a year with our Cocker Spaniels. ❤️
