Proper exercise plays a vital role in pet health, but inappropriate exercise can lead to serious injury or, as in heat stroke, life-threatening illness.

Pets love to play and don’t always know their limits, so it’s up to you to set firm boundaries on what’s safe and what’s not. This includes AVOIDING:

🚫 Exercise during inclement or extreme weather (including heat)
🚫 Slippery surfaces
🚫 Overexertion (stop before your pet gets tired)
🚫 “Weekend warrior” syndrome (moderate, consistent exercise is best)

Despite your best efforts, accidents sometimes happen. If you notice your pet is painful or behaving abnormally, contact your veterinarian for guidance.

Meet Axel, our handsome tuxedo domestic longhair with a personality as big as his floofy tail! 🐾

Axel is Taconic Veterinary Center’s Dr. Wallace’s cat—and he takes his job as Head of Household very seriously! When he’s not busy bird-watching from his favorite window, he’s usually getting into a little mischief, supervising everyone, and making sure the house runs according to his rules. 👀🐦

Axel was a bottle-fed baby, which may explain why he’s completely convinced that manners are optional. 😂 He has plenty of love to give—but table manners, personal boundaries, and following the rules? Let’s just say those lessons were apparently never included with the bottle!

One thing is certain: Axel is charming, curious, mischievous, and absolutely in charge. ❤️

We’re celebrating another very special furry family from our Taconic Veterinary Center family! ❤️ And yes… we LOVE celebrating families who love animals! 🐶🐾

Meet Chip, our CSR Kim’s adorable 4-year-old mixed breed! Chip is an Australian Cattle/Boxer mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. 🥰

🛡️ Chip is the family protector!
❤️ He absolutely loves people.
🐾 He loves other animals, too!
🚗 And most of all, he LOVES going wherever his people go!

This week, we're excited to introduce one of our own furry family members—Axel, the beloved 1½-year-old German Shepherd of our wonderful CSR, Kim! ❤️

Axel is the definition of a loyal best friend. Whether it's early morning cuddles, bedtime snuggles, or following his family from room to room, he always wants to be close to the people he loves most.

When he's not soaking up affection, you'll find Axel enjoying long walks, splashing around in the water, and making the most of every adventure. 🐕💦
