🌿 Does your bird's grooming routine have you stumped? We've got you covered!
Whether you're a first-time bird parent or a seasoned parrot pro, keeping up with your feathered friend's grooming needs is one of the best things you can do for their health and happiness. Here's what every bird owner should know:
✂️ Nail Trim Time? If your bird's nails are curling, catching on fabrics, or clicking loudly on surfaces — it's time! Trim every 4–8 weeks, avoid the pink "quick," and always keep styptic powder on hand. Natural wood perches help wear nails down between trims! 🪵
🦜 Beak Health Matters! A healthy beak is smooth and symmetrical. Offer a cuttlebone or mineral block and plenty of safe chew toys. Leave any filing or trimming to your avian vet — beaks are delicate!
🌿 Feathers = Your Bird's Report Card. Dull, fraying, or stress-barred feathers often signal poor nutrition. A diet rich in vitamins A, D3, and E — think pellets, leafy greens, carrots, and sweet potato — keeps plumage bright and beautiful.
🚿 Bath Day! Aim for 2–3 baths per week using room-temperature water. No soaps, no essential oils, no cold water — just a happy splash! Morning baths are best so feathers dry before bedtime. 🌅
☀️ Let There Be Light! Birds need 10–12 hours of full-spectrum light daily. If natural sunlight is limited, a UV bird lamp is a must for vitamin D3 and a balanced mood.
⚠️ Safety First: Keep Teflon cookware, aerosols, candles, and essential oil diffusers FAR away from your bird's space. Their respiratory systems are incredibly sensitive!
