This looks crazy.
Don't give into the crazy right now.
We're all going to need clear minds to get through this week and prepare for what's to come.
Houston is now in the cone for BOTH storms. Here's what else changed overnight.
1. Marco rapidly intensified. Smaller storms like Marco are prone to rapid changes in intensity up or down. It is almost a hurricane and will shoot through the gap between Mexico and Cuba. This has shifted the track, but for now it is still expected to make the bend toward southeast Texas. The yellow line in the cone represents a forecast for hurricane strength. Notice the NHC forecast puts it back to tropical storm strength (green line) before reaching Texas. If it makes landfall here, it would likely be on Tuesday
2.) Laura is quickly getting its act together SOUTH of Puerto Rico. The track has again shifted westward. If it continues to take this more southerly track south or over Cuba tomorrow, it is more likely to come toward Texas/Louisiana. Laura has the chance to be a much larger and more powerful storm than Marco. No one on the Gulf coast wants to see Laura coming their way. If it makes landfall here, it would likely be on Thursday.
There will be more refinements to these forecasts in the days ahead. Please stay informed. You do not want to let your guard down.
