This was pulled from a horses neck. Started as a swelling and purulent discharge.

JB Goats has a kid with contracture of the flexor tendons at the carpus (knee) Infused some IV medication to relax the tendons then bandaged up the legs to relax the tendons further. Hope to have a good result from this kid and see him at the show!

Treated this sweet girl for mastitis. She was pretty sick but back to normal now.

Really hard to believe this is the same wound and healed so well. Buttercup’s owners were very diligent and we had a really great outcome for her!

Had a really great outcome so far from a really gnarly wound on this mares chest. Lucky for her nothing went too deep but looks like she will have minimal scarring!

Had a visit from two kids who are lucky to be alive. Barnyard Sanctuary has been doing a wonderful job bottle raising these babies.

Barnyard Sanctuary brought in a doe with dystocia and we delivered two kids through c-section. I am happy to report these two are doing great!

AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) received confirmation of equine herpes myeloencephalopathy (EHM), the neurologic disease linked to equine herpes virus (EHV-1), in a Texas Quarter Horse on November 18, 2025.

The horse attended the 2025 WPRA World Finals and Elite Barrel Race event in Waco, Texas on November 5-9, 2025. TAHC staff are working closely with event coordinators, equine owners, and veterinarians to respond to the outbreak, take measures to protect equine, and prevent the further spread of the virus. Additional participants of this event have been notified by the TAHC and are currently being monitored under hold orders.

ORPHANED TWIN CALF UPDATE: Alive and kicking!

This little dogie “orphan” calf was rejected by the cow as a second twin. He was pretty sick with 104.5 fever, and bloody diarrhea. He took some intense treatments, to give him a fighting chance.
