We pride ourselves on providing expert and personalized care in a supportive, friendly environment. We offer a full range of medical and surgical care for small animals. This includes puppy-kitten packages, vaccinations, health screening tests, internal medicine, radiography (x-rays), endoscopy, ECG's, dental care (including digital dental x-rays), and general surgery. We also have a veterinarian-

supervised boarding facility with outdoor exercise runs & twice-a-day walks, separate boarding for cats, and special needs boarding for diabetic or geriatric patients. We have a certified pet groomer at our Pet Spa that provides the following services: dog and cat grooming, breed specific grooming, baths, nail trims, and cleaning of ears and a**l glands. Corning Animal Hospital has been serving the needs of pets and their owners in the Southern Tier since 1958. Dr Joshua Clay has worked at CAH since 1995 and became the owner in 2006. Dr. Emilija Žygelytė graduated from Cornell University and has been offering excellent patient care at our facility since 2019.

Many cats only see the veterinarian when they're sick, but regular checkups can help us find problems like dental disease, kidney disease, arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, and thyroid disease before they become more serious. Early treatment often means more options, better quality of life, and lower costs in the long run.

Even if your cat seems perfectly healthy, an annual visit gives us the chance to catch subtle changes that are easy to miss at home.

And don't worry, we know many cats aren't thrilled about car rides or vet visits! We can offer tips to make the trip less stressful, and for especially anxious cats, we can often prescribe medication to help them have a much calmer experience.

One question we get asked a lot is whether glucosamine supplements are really worth giving to dogs and cats. The answer is yes—especially as pets get older.

Glucosamine doesn't work like a pain medication. Instead, it helps support the health of the cartilage inside the joints, which acts like a cushion between the bones. As pets age, that cartilage gradually wears down.
While glucosamine can't rebuild a severely arthritic joint, it may help slow further degeneration and support overall joint health. The key is to start before arthritis becomes advanced, rather than waiting until a pet is already limping. It's also important to remember that these supplements work gradually. It often takes four to eight weeks before you notice any benefit, so consistency is important. Think of glucosamine as an investment in your pet's long-term mobility rather than a quick fix.

🌞 Summer is here, and so is the heat! 🐶🐱

As temperatures climb, remember that our pets feel the heat too. Dogs and cats can overheat much more quickly than we do, especially seniors, puppies and kittens, flat-faced breeds, overweight pets, and those with heart or breathing problems.

A few simple tips can help keep them safe:
☀️ Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening.
💧 Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water.
🌳 Make sure outdoor pets have access to shade.
🚗 Never leave a pet in a parked car—not even for a few minutes.
🐾 Check pavement with the back of your hand. If it's too hot for you to hold comfortably, it's too hot for your pet's paws.
