Cornelius Veterinary Clinic will be closed on Friday, July 4th in celebration of Independence Day.
We will reopen again on Saturday July 5th at 8AM.
This particular holiday can be stressful for our pets, so here are a few tips to keep your pets safe during the celebrations.
Pet Safety Tips for the Holiday:
Pets Stay Home: The best place for pets during fireworks is at home.
Indoor Safety: Create a safe, enclosed space indoors, away from windows and doors, where they can feel secure.
Identification: Make sure pets have proper identification, like a collar with tags and a microchip.
Calming Aids: Play calming music or white noise to help mask the sounds of fireworks.
Distraction: Provide toys, treats, and puzzle games to keep their minds occupied.
Avoid Fireworks: Never take pets to firework displays, and keep them away from fireworks displays.
Supervision: If you're outside with your pet, keep them on a leash or in a carrier.
Heat Safety: If it's hot, ensure pets have access to shade and plenty of water.
Food Safety: Don't give pets scraps from the BBQ, as many foods can be toxic. Secure trash to keep pets from gaining access to it.
Medication: If your pet has a known fear of loud noises, consult your veterinarian about possible calming medications or treatments.
All of us at Cornelius Veterinary Clinic wish you a safe and happy holiday.
