I haven’t posted in months, January was rough, as my dear Freddie Turkury passed away. I think he was around 9 years old. The nice thing was I got him a female, Ethel, in November so his last few months of life were heaven on earth.

Ethel has been lonely since we lost Fred. But, Mom and Dave surprised me last week with a 10 month old Bourbon Red tom turkey that is the same age as Ethel. She is very happy to have a partner again and he is very sweet and pretty calm. Welcome Benny and Ethel!

The last 2 years I have been transitioning my sanctuary in a new place and I can’t take any new birds at this time. Please reach out to Julie at Waddle on Inn in Blue Ridge, Ga. Give her as much info that you can about the ducks or geese.

Waddle On Inn Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) rescue outside of Blue Ridge, GA. We specialize in caring for disabled, injured, and dumped domestic waterfowl. We offer pet-friendly adoptions. Our mission is to educate the public on the dangers of releasing domestic waterfowl into the wild.

Good morning!! We have about 50 healthy ducks available for adoption, majority are pekins. Hoping to get some photos up starting Tuesday. We are reducing adoption fees because we are full full full!! Intakes have to remain closed until adoptions are done as there's no room left at the Inn. No female only, and predator safe coop required.

We also have some gorgeous bantys Cochin roosters and 3 LARGE Cochin roosters available as well as a teeny tiny momma chicken and her 3 babies, mixed breeds. Coop required. Send us a message!!

Remember for the next 28 days we get paid thru fb for every single comment and post reaction!! So plz help us out on this performance fundraiser set by Facebook!!!

To Make a Duck Happy

I bought a book a few years ago with that title. It was written by Carol E. Lester and was published in 1969.

This is Snow. She is a 1 1/2 year old Jumbo Pekin duck. Jumbo Pekins are meat birds, bred to grow too fast and have very large breasts, so large their legs sometimes struggle to carry all that weight. This can cause a lot of health issues; lameness, arthritis and heart failure.
Snow joined the asylum a week ago, when a friend of mine asked if I could help her. She can barely walk and seems to be suffering from severe arthritis or a joint infection. I planned to just have her here for a few days and then transport her to another waterfowl rescue, Waddle on Inn. But, something has happened to me in the week that she has been here. I was reminded of why I love rescue and how happy it makes me to serve these creatures that need a little extra help. It's by no means easy or glamourous work, but for me it is healing and feeds my soul. I know that might sound strange to a lot of you and really I can't explain it. But when I am doing this work, I feel like I am doing what God created me to do. Every time an unexpected animal enters my life I feel this way. It's always at a time when I am feeling stuck or I need a reminder of who I am and what I am capable of. A reminder of how blessed I am.

I don't know what will happen with Snow, but for now I am honored to have her here. I will do the best I can to improve her quality of life and try....To Make a Duck Happy.

A Proper name for an Odd bunch of ducks (and geese)

The name is new but what I am doing is not. I have been taking in injured, homeless, and discarded ducks and geese since 2016. It has been a blessing to care for these feathered friends, as they are my children. I would like to continue to help more waterfowl, but I need a facility that is separate from my home. I plan on raising the funds this year to be able to officially take the steps in making Odd Duck Asylum a sanctuary for many more little misfits that need love and a place to feel safe.
