Angel has been showing some concerning symptoms and will be going to the vet ASAP. We do not believe there is anything life-threatening going on at this time and she is otherwise healthy and functioning. Just the visit will be $205, and any tests will be extra. This girl has been by far our most expensive resident, because she came to us in by far the worst condition we have seen. Any donation towards her vet bills & care is greatly appreciated.

Lucy the bearded dragon is still looking for her forever home!

She loves to travel with her people and sit(and sleep) outside. Lucy LOVES her bugs but will settle for salad if you insist. She has MD(muscular dystrophy) and currently takes a liquid oral supplement every day but will need more care as she gets older and her condition deteriorates. She is able to move around and eat by herself and has made great strides since coming to us last summer!

Lucy the bearded dragon is still looking for a forever home! She is a young girl with lots of sass AND lots of love. She likes to sit outside, on the couch, and on her people. Lucy has Muscular Dystrophy and is currently just taking a daily oral liquid supplement. She is able to eat by herself and move around decently. As she gets older and her condition deteriorates she will require more intense care and supplementation. Attention all gardeners! All Pearls is launching a new compost program. In addition to loving and caring for animals, we also believe in sustainability, which is why we compost waste from our critters + our house & yard. It goes back into our yard and garden, and helps to grow food for our animals. We are now giving our compost to the public! Here's how it works:
1. Message us to schedule a pick up time: we are located in Corinth, TX.
2. Bring ANY container(s) to fill up with compost. Buckets, bins, wheelbarrows, trash cans, barrels.
3. We will measure your container(s) to calculate the volume. We ask for a $1 donation per gallon: 100% of this donation will go directly back it into the rescue, to help care for the animals that create the compost!
4. Fill up your container(s) and enjoy!
Most of our compost is UNFINISHED, but due to the composition, it can still be used in direct and semi-direct ways. We use it in dead/poor drainage spots of our yard, and we mix it with soil to fill pots + planters. Of course you can also just dump it into your own compost bin to give it a boost or improve the green/brown balance!

The big wooden bin is mostly hay, guinea pig & rabbit p**p, and rabbit litter(zeolite and pine pellets). There are also yard scraps(grass clippings, leaves, miscellaneous plant debris) and kitchen scraps(fruits, vegetables, coffee grounds, egg shells). Everything is pesticide and fertilizer free, and the kitchen scraps are raw + unseasoned.

The trash can is 100% hay, p**p, and litter, mostly hay. It was started(and filled) recently so very unfinished.

Hello, All Pearls family! We are URGENTLY looking for foster homes, one for a rabbit and one for a bearded dragon(photos in the post). What does it mean to foster with us?
We provide & reimburse for:
- ALL supplies
- ALL food
- ALL transportation
- ALL care information
You provide a home with lots of TLC! If at any point you feel like it isn't working out, we will take back foster animals NO QUESTIONS ASKED. You don't have to commit to fostering until the animal gets adopted, AND there is no pressure for you to become a forever home. So whether you can help us out for 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years, we would love for you to foster with us!

Second Chance Cavy Rescue is in a desperate need of fosters (and adopters) in and around the San Antonio, TX area.

The intake house where most of the rescued piggies are kept until they are adopted, is being forced to remove all the Guinea Pigs from the house by March 31, by order of their neighborhood HOA. We’ve successfully adopted quite a lot of Guinea pigs out over the past couple of months, but it’s not been enough to meet the deadline being enforced by the HOA.

If you have the ability to foster even a single Guinea pig or one pair, that would greatly help! We at the rescue will help promote adoption on petfinder as well as social media. We just need you to care for them until they are adopted.

If you can’t foster or adopt, helping us by sharing this post and spreading the word would be amazing. And we’d be very grateful for the help!

JUST A CAGE IS NOT ENOUGH.
Rabbits(and almost every other exotic & small mammal pet) need WAYYYYY more space than most people think.
WAY more space than a Petsmart cage.
WAY more space than an XL dog crate.
WAY more space than a hutch.
Free roaming in a large pen, room, or a whole house is ideal. If you're worried about them destroying something or getting hurt... YOU need to do more bunny proofing.
It is IRRESPONSIBLE and NEGLECTFUL to not provide enough space. If you don't want to, or can't give, your rabbit a large and safe area to live in, YOU SHOULD NOT GET/HAVE A RABBIT.
And you should have enough space for 2 or more rabbits, not just one, but that's a whole seperate discussion...

If you follow on Instagram, you might recognize these two... meet Rosalina & Pauline! Rosalina & Pauline were spotted roaming a neighborhood, back in January 2022. After several attempts to capture them, they were finally in rescued! They are the sweetest sisters, and a dynamic duo for sure. From the day of their rescue, Pauline has always been protective of her sister Rosalina. After several long months at the rescue, they were adopted out near the end of 2022. However, last summer (June 2023) they were surrendered by their previous family. We brought R & P to our rescue in Corinth all the way from San Antonio in January🚗🚗 They have been absolutely loving life with their foster. They have not been destructive or too mischievous(but as rabbit owners know too well, this can change at any second 😄), and are very friendly and curious. Except to me, the evil woman who kidnapped them and trapped them in a car for 5 hours 🥲.
R & P are ready to find their forever homes! They MUST be adopted together and have access to lots of space. They are spayed and vaccinated against RHDV. To fill out an adoption application, message us with your email!

Remember that emergency case we had last year? Simba(FKA Howard) has been adopted!! He is his family's first but certainly not last rabbit. They eagerly and patiently waited for him for weeks while we went through his RHDV vaccinations. It was love at first sight, and Simba continues to make his family laugh and smile (and clean, and bunnyproof) more and more every day. Soon, we will work on getting him a bunwife, as rabbits are NOT solitary animals and truly NEED at least one companion. We are so happy for Simba and his humans!

Update on Babe:
She was an actual terror at the vet. She tried to jump off the exam table several times and as they were wrangling her and examining her, she was S C R E A M I N G. Afterwards, I asked the receptionists if they heard her and they cracked up and said yes 😅. We put her on the floor so the vet could watch her walk around... and after all that drama she didn't want to anymore! I showed them the video I took of her limping and explained the checks I'd done on her and my guesses and after examining and observing her they agreed, that she had experienced some sort of mild injury and... IS TOTALLY FINE NOW 🥳🥳🥳 I'm going to keep her on "bed rest" with Wilbur until tomorrow just to be safe, and she is getting meloxicam for any lingering pain/inflammation. Luckily, the visit was NOT a doozy like I was fearing, the total was $240 and we have already raised 1/3 of that! THANK YOU to everyone who shared about Babe, and of course to everyone who has donated! This now brings our Care Credit balance to nearly $2100(out of our $2500 limit), so please keep sharing and donating so that we can afford medical care in the future!
