It was such a beautiful weekend to be out working dogs. I wish I'd have gotten some of Halee too, but her track was mostly through grass and stuff as tall as I am, so all of them would have just been of a line going into a wall of green. 🤣 Next time I'll get some of pretty princess working.

Caius and I had a great time meeting the awesome folks at Snake River MDHA Chapter this evening and talking about tracking dogs and the Minnesota Tracking Dogs network that we are a part of. You all were so kind and welcoming!❤️

Halee did a thing today! She passed her ubt1. This little girl is such a cool dog to work with. She's a lot of dog in a small package and I love the seriousness, intensity, and drive she brings to any work we do. She has challenged me to grow so much as a handler already. I am so excited to watch her learn and grow over the next year.

Thank you to my friend and mentor, as well as phenomenal breeder Sally at Altvater German Shepherds for such a hard working, sweet little girl who fits our family like she's always been here when she's not out working. We can't imagine life without our little honey badger. ❤️

Now that her ubt1 has been passed, all the hard (and fun!) work to prep her for the upcoming season and real life tracks really gets started!

Little man and his sister had a great time greeting everyone at the Minnesota Tracking Dogs booth at the MN SCI World Hunting Expo. They followed Opie's from Little Bailey's Big Game Recovery example yesterday by chilling on top of the table. 😅🤦‍♀️

A lot of times, tracking teams go into a track having little information. Today's recovery was one of those tracks. We went out yesterday at 7 hours after the shot and ended up jumping this doe out of her first bed and finding the arrow. Seeing the arrow indicating a far back intestinal hit we backed out till today.
Got back out today and ran the line, had a ton of turkeys yesterday and today. Thankfully little man knows to leave it when told and took himself back to last blood to restart. From there it was a quick 10 mins or so to where this doe had expired. (Two drops of blood the entire track.) Coyotes had jumped her out of her 2nd bed. Thankfully they hadn't gotten far.

Seeing your dog on tracks where turkeys have messed up the line or where coyotes have pushed the deer is incredibly helpful. Tracking is a HARD job. But I am so grateful to have amazing hunters we get to work with and C being the dog he is.

Catching up with some pictures/recoveries from the last few days. Rut is just about to start and things are getting busy! Be sure to text asap if you think you might need help/have questions and back out till you are sure one way or another what your plan is.
With the current weather conditions (warm and extremely dry) additional searching/grid searching can potentially cost you your deer. Good luck to all the hunters heading out this week!

Steadfast has close ties to the Armed Forces due to my husband still serving, and I was reflecting on what we typically do for Veteran's Day with a couple friends. Honestly, I was having a pity party due to my husband being unable to be here with us this year.
I'm grateful my friends allowed me to have a minute to process those feelings and then pointed out that we have an awesome opportunity to build relationships between the tracking community, hunting community and members of the Armed Forces while also benefitting some great organizations.
So, we are excited to announce a Veteran's Day initiative this year between Minnesota Tracking dogs teams, some of our Wisconsin counterparts and , , woundedwarriormn, and . All proceeds from tips received by participating tracking teams on Nov 11th go directly to these organizations.
Any tracking teams or hunters who would like to donate directly, can utilize the QR code or pm me/admins of the Minnesota Tracking Dogs page.
