🚨 YOUR DOG IS NOT A SMALL HUMAN

And they were never biologically designed to live on bowls filled with starch, legumes, cereals, and synthetic powders.

Yet modern marketing has convinced millions of pet parents that this is “balanced nutrition.”

So what is your dog actually❓️

Not a strict carnivore like a cat. Not a true omnivore like a human.

👉 Your dog is a facultative carnivore.

That distinction matters more than most people realize.

A facultative carnivore is an animal biologically designed to thrive on animal tissue, but capable of surviving on plant matter when necessary. Survival capability, however, does NOT equal optimal physiology.

Your dog’s entire anatomical blueprint still reflects a carnivorous design:

🦷 Teeth Designed for Flesh, Not Grinding Plants Dogs possess sharp premolars and carnassial teeth built to tear meat and crush bone, not flat molars meant for prolonged grinding of fibrous plant material.

🦠 A Carnivorous Digestive Tract
Dogs have a short, highly acidic gastrointestinal tract designed for rapid digestion of animal protein and fat. Unlike true herbivores or omnivores, they lack the extensive fermentation chambers needed to efficiently process large amounts of cellulose and plant fiber.

🧬 Metabolic Adaptation Does Not Rewrite Biology
Yes, dogs can digest some starch.
Yes, they produce amylase.
But adaptation for survival during domestication does not suddenly transform a carnivore into a grain-dependent omnivore.

A dog being able to tolerate carbohydrates is very different from carbohydrates forming the foundation of the diet.

⚠️ And this is where modern feeding has gone profoundly wrong.

Ultra-processed kibble often contains massive starch loads from peas, lentils, corn, wheat, potatoes, rice, or legumes because starch is necessary for extrusion manufacturing.
Not because it is biologically superior for canine health.

When highly bioavailable animal proteins are displaced by excessive carbohydrates and synthetic fillers, we increasingly see the consequences reflected in modern canine disease patterns:

✔️ chronic gut dysfunction
✔️ obesity and metabolic stress
✔️ inflammatory skin disease
✔️ unstable blood sugar regulation
✔️ poor muscle maintenance
✔️ microbiome disruption

Species-appropriate nutrition is NOT about feeding “only meat.”
And it is not about fearing every vegetable.

It is about respecting biological design.

Animal tissue should form the nutritional foundation of a canine diet because that is what their anatomy, physiology, and evolutionary history still support most efficiently.

Dogs may have adapted to survive beside humans.
But they never stopped being carnivores at their core.

And surviving is not the same thing as thriving. 🐾

Rehydrating Freeze-Dried Food is NOT optional! We've recently heard from a few people who didn't realize Freeze-Dried Dog and Cat food must be rehydrated, so we wanted to get the word out there.
Some packaging even says it can be fed dry, but for the health of your pets, PLEASE rehydrate it before feeding.

Note: Use as treats is fine, because treats should make up only a small part of your pet's everyday diet.

Healthiest food!

BIODYNAMIC FRESH FERMENTED RAW FOOD ~ Designed by Nature, Protected by Solutions. 👩‍🌾🌿🐐🐓👩‍🔬 Biodynamic Nutrition using Fresh Fermented Raw Processing is an upstream practice that protects vitality at the source, from living soil and biodiversity-rich farms to careful handling that preserves the food’s natural integrity.

It prioritizes a plastic-free, chemical-free process that goes beyond “organic inputs” by treating the farm and manufacturing as a whole organism throughout the process. To safely preserve food, we use Hurdle Technology, which combines multiple mild, synergistic safeguards that nurture microbial growth while protecting quality.

Instead of using the widely used downstream technology of HPP, a harsh processing method that denatures proteins, inactivates enzymes, and modifies their physical structure, we add fermentation using FFRP or Fresh Fermented Raw Processing. Fermentation significantly improves the nutritional value and functional properties of raw foods and is a highly effective food safety measure for shelf stability and spoilage prevention.

HPP has microbial reduction after the product is already made and is sealed in its plastic packaging. Extreme pressure is applied to the package, which modifies the polymers and leeches packaging chemicals, such as phthalates, into the food, including traces of n-hexanal and other hydrocarbons.

With Biodynamic Nutrition using fermentation, you get a “living food” approach with an extra layer of functional nutrition. Our practice delivers maximum vitality with minimum interference: nutrient-dense ingredients from living healthy farms, preserving native microflora, paired with fermentation that enhances digestibility, adds functional compounds, and contributes beneficial microbes that would otherwise be lost.

We have seen dogs with seizures no longer seizure when they changed foods. We could never figure out exactly why that can happen. This article explains at least one reason why. It’s amazing how many health issues are fixed when you fix the gut.

🧠 Epilepsy and the gut in dogs

Dogs with epilepsy often show differences in their gut microbiome compared to healthy dogs. This imbalance, known as dysbiosis, may contribute to seizure activity.

How does the gut influence seizures? Gut bacteria can affect neurotransmitters like GABA and serotonin, which regulate brain excitability. An imbalanced microbiome may also increase systemic inflammation, which is linked to a lower seizure threshold. In addition, beneficial gut bacteria produce short chain fatty acids that may help protect brain cells and stabilize neural signaling.

Early studies suggest that probiotics may help reduce seizure frequency or severity in some dogs. Diets that shift the microbiome, including ketogenic style approaches, may also support seizure control. Gut targeted therapies are being explored as potential add ons to standard epilepsy treatment.

In fact, a recent 2025 peer reviewed study in Research in Veterinary Science (Elsevier) found that probiotic supplementation was associated with lower seizure frequency in dogs, adding to growing evidence for this approach. Overall, benefits appear most promising with multi strain Lactobacillus blends rather than single strains, likely through broader gut–brain axis effects.
