And just like that, Worlds is over. Ian was selected to represent team USA in Junior 4 Dog Rig, but juniors from other countries were not able to travel with their dogs, so Ian's class was dropped to a national championship rather than a world championship. The trail was steep and a warm fall in TN had prevented Ian from training as much as he had hoped to this year, but those 5 am runs over the last 2 months were worth it. After a slow run on Thursday, Ian improved his run time enough on Friday to earn a podium position and a bronze medal.

Meeting mushers from around the world was a unique experience. Running in the company of some of the fastest dogs in dryland sprint was intimidating. But traveling with family who saved our tails on the road and kept us fed with great meals in WI was priceless.

Ian would much rather run dogs every day. But we've hit another warm spell. Lowest temps at night have been in the 60s. So back to yard work! Bonnie and Jim have added to Ian's fencing collection so Ian was able to set a few of those panels up yesterday. The big fence expansion is still dependant on our home renovation someday being finished. Until then, the dogs can enjoy a larger fence behind the house so they can come inside and out at will. Their other fence is in the barnyard, and these spoiled house dogs do not like being shut out of doors away from their air conditioner.

This evening Ian is putting down fence pavers generously donated by Lance and Donna Jasitt. Ian will line the entire perimeter to keep Jenna from digging. And to give Carly a sidewalk for muddy days.

Interesting run for Ian this morning. First, the dogs wouldn't stop. They blew past the truck after doing a lap, and went back up the hill for a second lap even though that wasn't the plan. Then Shallot caught a field mouse and caused a tangle. On the last straightaway C**t decided he wanted to go into the weeds and catch his own field mouse. Carly and U*i had the only functioning ears this morning.
