One of our most amazing adoptions... Peanut (renamed Ben) moved all the way to NY to his new people who gave him an extraordinary life. This sweet senior crossed the bridge some years ago but that act of generosity still shines bright in our memories.
You just need the right angel to appear...
Let's kick off this Sunday with an absolutely fabolus story -- l'il Peanut (Peanut Butter) has gone home!
We knew it would take a very special person to adopt our sweet, blind, nearly-toothless, senior boy, Peanut. So, we asked the amazing Susie's Senior Dogs for assistance again (they helped us find awesome homes for Ernie, Rocky, Brooklyn, and John John). Sure enough, after SSD posted Peanut, his photo and his story touched Randi's heart, and she knew that she had to reach out to us about Peanut.
It turns out that Randi and her husband had adopted a blind, senior dog named Charlotte Vale, who was also featured on SSD over a year ago! Charlotte Vale passed away eight months ago, and Randi and her husband wanted to rescue another senior pup in need to honor her memory.
Randi lives in New York, and we rarely do long-distance adoptions, but when the late Susie (RIP, sweet angel) gave us her blessing for Randi, we knew we had to make it work!
Randi is truly an angel on earth. She didn't mind that Peanut was blind (with a heart murmur) one bit! In fact, she didn't even want to use his halo to help him navigate his new home, since Charlotte Vale learned to get around great with Randi's guidance and with the help of her other dogs.
Not surprisingly, Randi's veterinary reference passed with flying colors, and we arranged for Peanut to get to New York to his new home via private transport. Upon his arrival, Randi treated Peanut to a spa day, he visited her vet, and he will receive only the finest care going forward -- not to mention a life of being spoiled rotten, which this boy so deserves after a life of much neglect!
Peanut is now named Ben (he has brothers named Jerry, Larry, and Moe) and is doing so well in his forever home. In just a week, Ben has already thrived so much! His personality is coming out more each day-his playfulness, affection, and spontaneous playing.
Randi said his "fearlessness and skill in getting around a new environment" is so impressive. He understands when she says "careful" when he is about to bump into something. He slows or stops, evaluates things, and changed direction. He also now understands "step up" and "step down" so that he can navigate the few stairs to the backyard deck. ust amazing, and all thanks to Randi!!
We could not have imagined a better outcome for this little guy. Thank you Randi and your boys for welcoming Ben into your family :-)
