We will say it again…
People want to complain about paying $4,500+ for a weanling, but what they don’t realize is they could have 20+ years out of that really nice bred horse.
Instead, they go spend $7,000 on a horse that come to find out is lame, another $8,000 for a horse that isn’t safe, and yet again another $10,000 for a horse who is supposed to be top-notch but needs injections, is buddy sour and doesn’t load.
What point I am getting at is: invest in a horse that can be a long-term horse. A horse that you can train and make your own. A horse that isn’t buddy sour, that doesn’t blow up when you saddle it, doesn’t pull back when standing tied, doesn’t load, and is healthy because you’ve taken the time to care for it properly.
Next time someone says, “Wow, you paid that much for a weanling?”
Ask them how many horses they have went through and how much they’ve spent trying to find the right one. Chances are they’ve spent easily 25k or more and went through several horses and still haven’t found what they wanted.
If you want a specific horse, make it yourself. Buy them young and keep them a lifetime.
