Does your horse need a break from the hustle and bustle of a horse facility or a quiet place to retire? We specialize in senior and special needs horses but all are welcome. We practice the three F’s: Freedom, Friends and Forage.
The farm is a beautiful 12 acre site, lush pasture with several types of grass. Farm has a very calm, peaceful energy that lets these horses relax and enjoy a more natural simple life. Whether your horse has special needs or just want your loved horse to have a soft landing to relax in retirement this is the place.
I’m also an Equine Caretaker (retired) for UGA Veterinarian Hospital which comes in very handy for our older horses.
Full care pasture board spots available. Weekly rates available. $350 mo fee includes hay, feed, (special diets and supplements no problem), farrier service (trim only), blanketing, 24 hrs access to your horse, treats with plenty withers and butt scratches.
Access to barn and stalls for injury or sickness.
Pastures, barn, shelter logic run-ins that can be turned into stalls. Multi horse discount.
We use UGA Veterinarian Services.

Are you wanting to get a horse but have little or no horse care experience? Don’t know where to start or have questions or even know what to ask to start out?
There are a lot of horses that need homes and people to care for them. The future for many horses are very grim.
I’m owner of Sunsets Horse Retirement Farm in N. Ga. I mainly board senior/special needs horses. Equine Caretaker for UGA VTH (retired). Experience with horse rescue and breeding farms.

Master room with walk in closet, whirlpool bath tub, separate shower, two bathroom sinks. Sitting area outside room. Shared kitchen, dining, laundry room with nice common area with fireplace. Includes water, trash, wi-fi but will split electricity. On beautiful, quite 12 acre horse farm. In N. Georgia Commerce, Illa area. 30 minutes from Athens. A love of dogs and horses a must. $900 month plus electricity, includes utilities and internet.
Charge for second person. First, last and deposit depending on circumstance. Adults only. May have dogs but no cats (sorry, I like cats but my dogs don’t)

Draw back of boarding senior and special needs horses is that when they leave for those forever pastures, even though they are not mine a piece of my heart goes with them. 😔
