I ♥️ sumac!

I've been dying to do a sandwich with some babka, but savory. is making a special Cinnamon Black Pepper Babka on which we are adding one of our our beef patties spiced with garlic, cumin, paprika and more, some fresh cucumber slices from and a yogurt sauce featuring sumac foraged right on our farm!

I can't wait to try this ultra flavorful, savory and tangy, refreshing and decadent all-in-one sammich!

🌷 Bulb Planting Tips - Fun and Foolproof🌷

Want a jaw-dropping spring garden? The secret is planting your fall bulbs just right. Don’t worry—it’s easier than you think. Here’s your step-by-step guide:

1. Nail the Timing ⏰
Think of bulbs as picky houseguests—they don’t like arriving too early or too late.
Soil temp sweet spot: 40–50°F.
North: Aim for late September or October.
South: October or November is your window.
Pro tip: Bulbs need 6–8 weeks to grow strong roots before winter’s big freeze.

2. Pick the Perfect Spot ☀️
Bulbs love the good life. Give them:
Sunshine: At least half a day of rays.
Dry feet: Well-drained soil is a must (no soggy socks allowed).
A snack: Mix in compost or organic matter to make their soil buffet irresistible.

3. Plant Like a Pro 🌱
Here’s where the magic happens:
Depth check: Two to three times the bulb’s height.
Pointy side up: It’s their way of saying “this end goes skyward.”
Spacing: 3–6 inches apart for that lush, full look come spring.

4. Water + Protect 💧🛡️
Your bulbs need a little TLC after planting:
Drink up: Water well so roots can settle in.
Cozy blanket: Add mulch to keep temps steady through winter.
Guard duty: Chicken wire or mesh keeps hungry squirrels from crashing the party.

5. Show Them Some Love 💚
Once your bulbs bloom, don’t cut them off too soon
Leave the leaves: Foliage feeds the bulb for next year’s encore.
Mark the spot: Stick a sign or marker in the ground—you’ll thank yourself next spring when you forget where you planted them.

🌼 Pro Caution: Plant bulbs too early in warm soil and they risk rotting or getting fungus before they sprout. Tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, garlic, and onions are especially sensitive. Even potatoes (not technically a bulb!) can sulk if planted too soon.
