This evening we encourage the members, new or old, of misfit equestrian and the horse world alike to support Sarah’s family. If you’ve shown at Happily Ever After, it’s likely you’ve watched a round of Sarah’s, been a closer friend of hers, or passed her in the ingate or barns. Our group has been showing locally for about two years.. and while we have never had the honor of working alongside Sarah, nor knowing her personally, this is a tremendous loss. Community is a large part of this sport, and this loss is heavy for everyone. Now is the time to demonstrate our strength, support for family and friends, and resilience. Supporting Sarah from ringside and watching her equestrian journey online has been nothing but fantastic. I’ve interacted with Sarah through comment sections, and have personally observed comments she has left on others posts, she was always kind and encouraging of others to keep working hard. The equestrian world is in desperate need of hard working, passionate, and loving riders like her. Every single interaction I have had with Sarah has been so good, and I’ve only ever heard or seen fantastic things about her from others. This is a good time to reflect on what you have, and to be thankful for every ride you dismount from your horses safe. It only takes one leaf blowing, one plastic bag blowing by, or that mounting block that’s been there for a year but looks slightly off to change things. Hug your ponies extra long, triple check that your helmet is buckled, and always be kind and encouraging to your fellow equestrians. - Alexandria Horton, owner of MEP.
