Not to long back the UPPCC ran a poll asking the Presa Canario community to weigh in on where we should host our very first show and working event since our founder Richard Kelley.
The people spoke, and by popular vote, Florida was overwhelmingly chosen.

All these "breeders" popping up everywhere you look and now there are so many choices, but we live in a world where it's extremely difficult to trust and have faith that that breeder is going to do right by you the puppy buyer.

The United Perro De Presa Canario Club is here to help. “White, White, white and more white,” is the never ending cry from those few ignorant Presa aficionados of the PCCA. This small group, constantly harps about Presas with white markings and contends they are impure, less than desirable and are manufactured by all breeders not associated with their group.

Enough is enough of these erroneous remarks. Let the attached photo copies speak for themselves. What’s the old cliché’? ” A picture is worth a thousand words.” These copied photos were taken from a Spanish book, “El Presa Canario,” authored by: Presa Judge and breeder, “Manuel Martin Bethencourt,” and from the August, 1997, issue of, “El Mundo del Presa” which featured an in-depth article about the Presa Canario.

You can readily see these Presas have varied markings of white coloration on their snout, muzzle, face, head, collar, toes, feet, legs, chest and body. Somehow these dogs are recognized as Presas from their country of origin, from Spain and from renowned Presa breeders.

How can this be? You might well ask! Could it be that a small group of individuals are unaware of the existence of such beautiful Presa. Perhaps, this group (PCCA & CEPRC) are of a mind-set to change the overall appearance of the Presa by removing the genetic white coloration at the expense of loosing the dog’s characteristic temperament.

Remember Dear Members,” the white coloration within the Presa Canario breed comes from genetic infusion of the Olde Bull Baiting Bull-doge & Cordoba. Like it or not, the white gene being dominant, will over time manifest itself as a recessive gene, in the form of a mostly white bodied dog or with white markings on the Presa as previously described. Please note the coloration of the pups in the basket along side the small child.”

Our point to this expose – don’t let anyone try to intimidate you into believing that any Presa with White Markings is impure. One has only to use ones eyes or travel to the Gran Canary Islands or to Spain to observe first hand evidence of Presa Canario dogs with varied white markings. Let the truth stand on it’s own merits …..

The Presa Canario Database (https://presadb.com/ ) is an independent and non profit project and has no association with the United Perro de Presa Canario Club. The U.P.P.C.C. does not control what breeders add or remove from that site. Our website is www.unitedpresacanarioclub.com and we maintain our own internal database that can not be viewed or changed by anyone in the public.

Furthermore, we'd like clear up that the E.U.P.P.C.C. has no association with the U.P.P.C.C either.

Checks and balances

To be a truly effective entity we must run checks and balances on ourselves as a company to ever bring the best service to our community. In an effort to be ever changing and meet the high demands of the Presa community we find ourselves scrutinizing our registration process.... AND we've found a flaw... With Embark
If Embark themselves won't guarantee breed identity then how can we use it as part of the legitimization process for our Presa Canario registration?
The short answer to that is we CAN'T. If Embark can't/won't stand behind their scientific findings we can't use them as a component of the authentication purposes with our registration process.
As such, registration of previously unregistered dogs will no longer require Embark nor a Wisdom panel.
We hope the community realizes the burden put on us as a breed registration organization. No other registry has the burden of saying what IS a Presa and what is NOT. That responsibility lies SOLELY on our shoulders.
We will endeavor in the future to continue to fine tune our process.
In the mean time for those seeking papers on your dogs please email us for details.

UPPCC is a breed specific registry for the Presa Canario. Some of the perks of having your dogs registered with UPPCC is that you will now receive a 3 generation pedigree upon registering your dog! Also, your registration is UKC transferable if you ever wish to do so.

If you currently own a Presa Canario, be sure to register your dog with UPPCC and inquire about the BREEDER INCENTIVE PROGRAM.

Congrats to everyone already taking advantage of the INCENTIVE program. Checks will be sent out tomorrow. 🤑

Please don't be the breeder who leaves money on the table, especially for those of you whom already register your puppies with UPPCC. This month there was $640 unspoken for, which could have been paid back to the appropriate breeders.

For those of you who have already registered-- thank you for your continued support, especially as we've worked to make everything digital. It's been a little bit of a process, but we are working out the kinks and everything continues to improve with your support and feedback!

CHECKS AND BALANCES

Step 1:

The UPPCC is proud to announce it is the first registry in the world of Presa Canario to implement a system of checks and balances designed to bring legitimacy to our breed.

How do we do this?

By requiring all dogs without previous registration or officially accepted registration to pass a series of tests through a system checks and balances designed to w**d out Presa from... non Presa.

Each applicant not previously registered will only be single registered

IF

They pass an embark or wisdom panel with 85% or greater Presa Canario breed identity.
Each applicant must submit 3 stacked photos from the front, the side, and a side head shot only and will overwhelmingly be voted on by 7 board members of the UPPCC.
In addition, the applicants dog must meet the 1989 standard to a fault. For example If it's out of standard per color it will NOT recieve registration papers.
Each part of our process is a series of checks and balances which the sum total equals a pass or fail.

All who come looking to register previously unregistered dogs must pass each and every part of our checks and balances criteria to recieve registration
The days of the wild west must make way for the unification and progression of our breed in a more singular direction.
To bring homogeneity to our breed we must not only implement a more refined set of rules but have in place a serious of checks and balances to enforce it.
We believe this will be a HUGE step in a more singular direction for the breed moving forward.
The future of the Presa is NOW, and we aim to be the tip of the spear that drives the perfection of our breed going forward.
