This is Marion. She was cruelly abandoned at our clinic several days ago by someone who drove away without a second thought. This heartbreaking act is not only irresponsible but also a crime. Thankfully she did not wander into the highway to be injured or killed.

While we are disgusted by this person's actions, this sweet pup has been given a full check-up and lots of love. She's safe now, and we have already found her a loving home. We realize that this was the goal of the person dumping this baby off at our doorstep. Instead of taking the time and effort to rehome her for whatever reasons, we were tasked with putting in the effort for someone else's responsibility. This is an issue for anyone who cares for animals, whether it be a shelter, vet office, foster family, or good-hearted people who are known animal lovers.

Animals are family, not garbage. There are always better options than abandoning a pet, especially since there are resources available to help in rehoming. Owning a pet is a privilege that comes with time and financial responsibilities that should be considered before adding a pet to your household, even if you are "rescuing" a stray or abandoned animal. You assume responsibility for the care of that animal once in your possession, so having a plan in place prevents these situations from happening. A little forethought goes a long way in preventing the massive pet overpopulation that burdens our already struggling shelters and other animal support agencies. Don't be that person. Don't dump your problems for someone else to handle. Understand that pet ownership comes with upkeep beyond the new puppy/kitten stage. Animals deserve better from the only family they know abandoning them in a strange place.

Just a reminder to make sure our fur babies have their anxiety medication for July 4th. Also our office will be closed Friday July 4th and Saturday July 5th!

Please be mindful with your pets in this heat,
Heat exhaustion is a very big threat, no dogs will come to harm if you cant walk them, but if you can walk them, choose early morning or late evenings, when its a lot cooler and the pavements have also cooled down.
Even just laying in your garden is enough to be a threat.
Keep your pets safe, and please put shallow bowls of water out for the wildlife.
