Meet Cooper!

Cooper and his sister landed in a shelter after his owner passed. His sister was adopted quickly, but Cooper had to wait a little longer for his Second Chance. Now, he’s ready to shine!

Cooper is the total package:
🐾 Adorable underbite (seriously, it’s a heart-melter)
🐾 Loves to sunbathe in his favorite spots
🐾 Playful AND cuddly – the perfect combo
🐾 Gets along well with other dogs and puppies (with proper introductions)
🐾 House trained & working hard on his “sit, down, and stay” skills

He sleeps like a champ in his kennel at night and is learning to see it as a cozy hangout during the day. Bonus: he’s totally fine being left out when you’re gone!

Cooper has been so patient, and now he’s ready for the happy ending he deserves. Could it be with you? ❤️

This is Nemo. 🐾

As of today, we have had Nemo for 928 days. That is 2.5 years.
Why have we had him so long?

Well you see, Nemo is slow to warm up. And we mean SLOOWWWWW. Like, a year or so. So far, no one has wanted to give him the time he needs to settle in. Which is a lot of time.

He loves other cats, has tolerated dogs, uses the litter box, he just doesn't really trust humans. But there are plenty of us out there who sometimes feel that way about humans right? His general disdain for people is evident in his judgmental look.

Being a bengal, he's an active boy and loves running on his wheel, playing and generally pestering the resident cat in his foster home.

Second Chance has another great dog ready for you - Meet Lily! Isn't she the cutest?!?!

After selflessly raising 11 adorable puppies, Lily is ready for her next chapter—as a beloved family dog who gets to sleep in, take long strolls, and soak up the love.

She’s crate, potty, and leash trained, great with dogs, cats, and kids, and basically a unicorn in a dog suit—if that unicorn also happened to be an expert escape artist. Yes, Lily can clear a 4-foot fence with ease, so she’ll thrive in a secure yard and/or with an active human who enjoys walking, hiking, or running.

Lily is a gentle, cautious soul who warms up with patience and kindness. In just a week with her foster family, she’s already tail-wagging, seeking affection, and playing with their resident dog. Her favorite part of the day? Walks and outdoor time. She’s blossoming into a happy, affectionate companion and is ready to find a safe space where she can bloom—just like her name promises.

🐾 Meet Yeti – the ultimate marshmallow of a cat! 🐾

Yeti is serving up big, sweet, snuggly vibes — think soft, lovable, and just a little bit larger than life! 💛 This gentle giant came to Second Chance after his beloved owner passed away, and it’s clear he was deeply loved.

Despite his size, Yeti isn’t chunky — he’s just a big-boned boy with an even bigger heart. He settled into his foster home quickly and was asking for pets within days. This guy loves attention, gets along great with other cats and dogs, and would be thrilled to curl up on a cozy couch with his forever family.

We had a great time visiting the residents at Mill Creek Village this week, teaching them about what we do, and providing some much appreciated puppy snuggles!

Outreach is one of our favorite parts of rescue! Partnering with local businesses helps us spread the word about what we do, and the puppy kisses too! ❤️

As a rescue, we don’t always know what we are going to get when we commit to a dog or cat. A seemingly healthy animal may turn out to have issues we know nothing about.

Enter Roper. It is easy to make assumptions about how he ended up in a shelter at his age, but that does not diminish his worth or his deserving of a loving forever home.

His foster was not quite ready for the commitment he would end up being, but they jumped in head first. A myriad of strange symptoms and behaviors led us to believe he is suffering from cognitive decline and possibly Cushings. We do not know how long he has, but we know he has a bucket list he is trying to fulfill. His foster has stepped up to the plate to make his time with us the absolute best, but they are not his forever home, and that is the ultimate bucket list item.

Sometimes the best ones are the ones people overlook. Sometimes they’re the ones who are a “little bit broken”.

This isn’t a pity post- it’s a purpose post. We want to find Roper what he needs to thrive. It’s about giving a life that still has value the love it deserves.

So, here’s to the broken ones. The grey muzzles and patchy coats and resilient spirits.

Please join us in giving a huge (virtual) round of applause to our incredible almost entirely volunteer cat intake team who brought in 39 cats this weekend — our biggest intake in recent years! 😺👏

From scheduling, to communicating to coordinating vet care and finding foster homes, this team saved so many lives in one day!

Every one of these 39 cats now has hope for a brighter, safer future — and it's all thanks to the dedication of this amazing crew.
