Thank you everyone for being incredibly patient with me while I recover after surgery (which took place last week).

As I continue to recover and regain more mobility I will keep everyone updated on when cat grooming with resume at full capacity once again.

As it stands, if you have a cat needing groomed, I have a few slots open in late March and then April, I intend to be back with plenty of openings (will update late if there are more changes). So please give Treats Unleashed in Columbia a call to schedule your cat in.

Feline exclusive groomer in Central Missouri. Shelby offers nail trims, cat baths, cat haircuts (lion cuts, sanitary trim, etc) in a low-stress environment.

Cat grooming is officially booked for January. Thank you everyone for setting up an appointment for you cat(s) to come see me, I greatly appreciate all of you.

Unfortunately this also means I will officially be on hiatus from January 12th to, at least, the beginning of March for grooming. This is because I am having surgery on my arm and need to make sure the skin is blemish-free so the surgery is not pushed back; this also gives me time to heal afterwards.

I apologize for the inconvenience; however, I look forward to seeing everyone once I am back and will let everyone know once I am certain when I am taking appointments again.

✨ Cat Grooming: Comb Cut & Sanitary Trim ✨
After going back and forth on whether to post this video, I decided to go ahead with it. Sanitary trims are not the most glamorous part of the job; however, a good portion of my medium/long-haired cat clients receive this service, this prevents extra gifts remaining on the cat's fur after litterbox visits.

For Merlin, the owner wanted him to have a sanitary trim and to have his paw pads trimmed up along with "floof" reduction. The idea was to keep Merlin's gorgeous coat, while making it easier to manage at home. I ended up taking a 1/2in off the overall coat, which helped slim him down and remove the unruly hair on his hindquarters and belly. For the paws, we took off the fur around the paw pads to keep Merlin from sliding around, then rounded them out to give them a finished look. Once his haircut was done, he went into the bath (sorry, I did not get video footage of this) where he happily laid in the tub for his soapy massage. After the bath, he sat patiently on the table for the blow dry portion, he even want the air from the dryer around his face/ears, much to my surprise. Overall, this is the process your cat would have for a comb cut or a sanitary trim.

As mentioned before, the bath and drying portion tend to be what owner's worry about most with the service. I strive to offer as low-stress of a situation possible for all cats in the salon: no dogs, alternate bathing methods, happy hoodies to mute the dryer sound. If a cat ever reaches a point to where they are too stressed, the service is stopped immediately and we make an action plan for future grooms.

✨ Cat Grooming: Bath/Deshed ✨
Blue comes in every four weeks for his bath/deshed appointment, due to popular request, we were able to record a good portion of his spa day to give everyone a glimpse at the process in the salon. Each cat is different, so we tailor each appointment to each specific cat's needs.

This is my most requested service for all cats with all hair lengths. In the bath/deshed option for grooming, all cats have their nails trimmed, paw pads cleaned up (usually for medium/long hair cats, this means we're shaving the paw pads), ears cleaned, face clean, bath (triple shampoo), blow dry, and the brushout (curry comb and several silver combs used to remove loose/dead hair). A good chunk of the dead/loose fur tends to come off in the bath and especially the blow dry portion, so brushing after the bath is much easier.

For those worried about how their cats will react in the bath or with the velocity dryer, the good news is most cats do fine for the bath. The bath is usually done in the method seen in Blue's video; however, if the running water triggers the cat to freak out, I do have a "bath" method where the cat will relax in a bubble bath and only use the water hose for the final rinse. As for the velocity dryer, most cats wear a "happy hoodie," which looks like an oversized arm/sweatband that covers their ears to reduce the noise and feeling of the dryer around their face/ears.

✨ Toby's Spa Day ✨
This handsome fella is a regular in the salon, we alternate between just a regular bath/deshed and bath/deshed/sanitary trim.
Toby came in this time for the full deal, so we trimmed up his potty areas, cleaned up his paws and gave him a good bath (which be loved, by the way, he loves the soapy massage and warm water). Once out of the bath, it was to the drying kennel to blow out his fur using the velocity dryer before brushing out his coat.
Toby's mom said he rarely allows her to brush him at home, he just wants head scritches or only tolerates a couple minutes of brushing before giving a warning hiss. On the grooming table, however, he is the most affectionate cat and doesn't mind the whole process. His owner loves hearing how well he does, especially when she can see he's still a happy boy after his service.

✨ Oz's Spa Day ✨
This little guy belongs to a friend of mine, she wanted him to have a bath and deshed treatment and we did just that. She usually bathes her own cats fairly regularly, bit Oz doesn't care much for the bath plus she wanted the excessive shedding taken care of so I stepped in to help.
Osiris is a gorgeous flame point Siamese mix with super soft fur, so we were able to get so much loose fur off his body (I had a mountain of cat fur around my table, but only left a small ball of it for the photo, hahaha). He did pretty good, definitely was not a fan of the bath or dryer, but was overall very forgiving and loved his after-blowdry brushout. 💕

✨ Suki's Spa Day ✨
This was a fun day at the salon, I had the honor of grooming my best friend's cats (Diminne, Suki, and Osiris).

Suki was in need of a sanitary trim and a good bath to brighten her fur, so we did just that. She did wonderful for the bath, even though she told me how much she like her fur before it was wet (lol, she's a talker) and once in the dyer we let her relax for a bit while I switched to bathe her sister.
Once Suki was dry, we gave her a good brushout and trimmed up her overly furry paw pads before she was all good to go.

✨ Diminnie's Spa Day ✨
This was a fun day at the salon, I had the honor of grooming my best friend's cats (Diminne, Suki, and Osiris).

This beautiful cat is one I've know for awhile (much like her siblings), Minmin is super laid back and I knew she would do wonderful for her groom. For Diminnie, we gave her a good bath, blowout, and brushout to remove all her shedding fur. Of course, she tends to shed SO much, so I focused on a pre-bath brush, shaved her paw pads, then into the bath for a triple shampoo, once her bath was done I blew out her coat with the velocity dryer before ending with another deshed brushout. We got so much fur off her and her coat is super fluffy again!

✨ Bella's Spa Day ✨
This lovely lady has waited patiently to schedule her first deshed appointment with me, only because she was settling in to her new home so we wanted to make sure she was comfortable at home before bringing her in the shop for her groom.
You may be able to tell she's been groomed before and usually has a lion cut, but her new owner only wanted to start with a bath/deshed, which I was happy to do for her. Ms. Bella was super cuddly and wanted all of the pre-bath brushing before her bath, even let me trim her paws without a care. After that she had a triple shampoo bath before drying off in the grooming kennel - the scariest part of the process. I am so proud of this lovely lady, she just tucked her head into my arm and let me dry her fur without squirming around. Once she was dry, we thoroughly brushed out her fur to remove any remaining loose fur and finished with my favorite NCGI Bay Rum spray (I love this stuff, the fur smells great while also adding a bit of shine).
Her owner asked about lion trim alternatives if she didn't want Bella shaved, so we talked about a comb cut to leave the fur longer or we can keep doing regular bath/deshed treatments to maintain the coat. I am excited for this lovely girl to come back in the future for more.
* Her harness in the before photo was very loose and only went around the front legs. She was laying comfortably, I just didn't have the clasp secured, so it looks like it may be pulling.
