Happy Easter, fellow riders, trainers, and competitors! 🐎✨🌷
In the arena of horse training and competition, we live the Easter story every day.
We face our Good Fridays—the tough training sessions where nothing clicks, the horse that shuts down or explodes with fear, the injury that sidelines you both, the show where nerves or a rail down feel like total defeat. Those moments bury hope under doubt, frustration, and exhaustion. The “tomb” of a bad ride or a struggling partnership can feel final.
But Easter reminds us: resurrection is the heartbeat of horsemanship.
What looks dead—trust that’s been broken, confidence that’s shattered, a green horse that seems untrainable—can rise again stronger. With patience, consistency, and quiet leadership (that beautiful biblical “meekness” of a powerful stallion who chooses to yield to his rider’s lightest cue), we witness new life. The horse that once resisted now flows with you in perfect harmony. The partnership that felt broken rebuilds into something deeper and more resilient. The competitor who fell gets back in the saddle, wiser and more determined.
Every setback in the barn or show ring is not the end—it’s preparation for a comeback. Life, like training, refuses to stay buried. The empty tomb whispers to every rider: rise again.
So today, whether you’re celebrating with family, mucking stalls, or visualizing your next round—let Easter renew your spirit. Embrace the cycle of death and rebirth that makes great horsemen and great horses.
He is risen… and so is every rider who chooses to get back on and try again.
Wishing you a blessed Easter filled with fresh hope, healed partnerships, and joyful rides ahead. Keep your heels down, your heart open, and your faith in the resurrection power of persistence. 🕊️❤️🐴

Hey barrel racers! Let’s talk about something that can make or break your run: leads. Specifically, picking up the correct lead on departures (like out of the alley or leaving a barrel) and executing smooth lead changes between barrels.

Why do they matter so much?
1. Balance: Being on the correct lead keeps your horse’s weight distributed properly—inside for the turn. Wrong lead? The horse gets off-balance, scrambles, and loses rhythm. That means wider turns and lost time.

2. Power & Strength Leaving Barrels: A correct departure lets your horse drive powerfully from the hindquarters. On the wrong lead, the hind end can’t engage fully, reducing propulsion. You’ll see horses “lose” a hind lead coming out, forcing a scramble and slower exit.

3. Smooth Lead Changes: Between the first and second barrel (opposite directions), a clean flying (or simple) change sets you up perfectly for the next turn. No change = approaching on the wrong lead = rough, slow turn. Pros emphasize hip control and collection for effortless changes.
Wrong leads don’t just slow you down—they stress uneven muscles, increasing soreness risk in hocks, stifles, and more.

Tip: Build fundamentals slow—perfect circles on correct leads, hip control drills, and feel those footfalls. Rush it, and bad habits stick!

Happy National Day of the Horse! 🐴❤️
Today, December 13th, we celebrate these majestic animals that have galloped through America’s history—from carrying pioneers across the frontier to serving in battles, plowing fields, and inspiring our spirit of freedom.
Horses aren’t just beautiful; they’re symbols of strength, loyalty, and grace that continue to enrich our lives in recreation, therapy, and more.
Shoutout to my favorites: Moe, Bug,Cimm,Storm,Fury, and Biggles —the best equine buddies a person could ask for! 🐎🐎🐎
Take a moment to appreciate the horses in your life (or dream of one!).
