🎖️ Your weekly dose of Paw‑sitivity – Client Spotlight: Kris J. & Pippa 🐾

“When my therapist first floated the idea of a service dog, I said no. I didn’t think I deserved that kind of help.”

For Kris J., that initial hesitation felt deeply rooted in guilt—feeling others might need help more. But his therapist gently reminded him: seeking therapy was proof enough that he deserved support too.

After much reflection, Kris began browsing rescue sites. That’s when he saw Pippa, a Belgian Malinois. Despite his prior work with Malinois in the military, he was certain he’d never own one. Yet something about her stood out. Her foster mom described her as “very special,” unusually sensitive and empathetic. If Kris was serious, she said she’d consider an adoption.

Pippa’s story was harrowing. Found roaming the streets of California, she landed in a high‑kill shelter and was scheduled for euthanasia. A rescue’s timely intervention saved her—despite being so emaciated she could barely stand.

Their first day with Victory Service Dogs was nerve‑wracking. But the trainers were exceptional—breaking tasks into manageable steps, using positive reinforcement, and helping Kris and Pippa form a connection rooted in trust.

Since then, everything has transformed.

Pippa accompanies Kris everywhere. Places that once felt impossible are now navigable. When anxiety creeps in, she nudges his hand with her nose or leans gently with her comforting weight—grounding him in the present. Her patient presence helps him breathe, stay calm, and move forward.

“Before Pippa, certain places felt like insurmountable obstacles. With her by my side, those walls have crumbled.”

Kris J. & Pippa are a powerful testament to healing, resilience, and second chances. Their team reminds us that strength isn’t loud—it’s steady, empathetic, and deeply rooted in connection.

🎖️ Your weekly dose of Paw-sitivity - Client Spotlight: Dave & Chiron 🐾

“I wake up every day and often struggle to find the good in my day… but this morning, Chiron helped me find it.”

For Dave, mornings often begin with hypervigilance—before he even steps out of his room. Frustrations can snowball quickly, and the weight of mental noise builds fast. But like many days, Dave laced up his shoes, clipped in the dogs, and stepped outside for a walk—because he knows movement helps. And Chiron, his loyal service dog, is always right there with him.

Today, something shifted. Amidst the chaos of malfunctioning earbuds and swirling thoughts, Dave looked down and saw something simple but powerful: three calm, happy dogs walking in sync. Peace. Joy. A moment to hold onto.

“They were just so well-behaved, having a nice time… it made me smile. A moment to enjoy. I’ll hang on to that the rest of the day.”

Thanks to the training and support from Victory Service Dogs, Chiron has become much more than a service dog—he’s a grounding force, an everyday reminder to breathe, and a reason to smile when things feel heavy.
