Update 10/6: Wild Blue Cats “Eye” Caramba 18 Kittens
Next update on 10/10
Thanks to all our wonderful fosters and medical team the 18 kittens are improving and thriving! Our medical team continues to assess the eyes of all the kittens and I’ve included some photos of the ones who are back to 100%! Some of the kittens we thought might lose eyes are showing improvement enough that we may not have to remove them after all. Sadly, we do have a few who have one or both eyes which will need to be removed in order for the kittens to lead a healthy, normal life. Those final assessments and removal surgeries are still scheduled for Oct 10th. Any help before then to cover those upcoming costs is greatly appreciated.
From our fosters:
Verzenio will not lose either eye…his are looking great. Valeric may be ok on both eyes…one is suspect but looking better every day. Validity and Viability still have swollen third eyelid covering their eyes but they are wide open and I can see eyes in the corners. Cannot tell if they are savable but both seem to be able to see somehow. Varum (both eyes already removed) is learning his new environment and is a purr buddy. Lost a little weight overnight so will try to help him eat more. Valorian is the most animated of the group, purrs and plays and romps. Her one eye left is questionable but I’m hopeful it can be saved.
Volute and Vels eyes are looking great. Vel has a bit of cloudiness in her left eye. Varnish has cloudiness in both eyes. Vorticity’s right eye is super cloudy and doesn’t look great. His left eye still has the red covering it. Vellum’s eyes are good and she hasn’t had eye medication for a number of days. I don’t think that Vibration’s left eye can be saved. It’s completely cloudy and bulging. I’m uncertain about his right eye. Volatility’s eyes have improved, but I don’t know if given more time and treatment if they can be saved. Vault’s eyes look great! Vanceril and Valence are still healing
Update 10/3: Wild Blue Cats “Eye” Caramba 18 Kittens
Moving to a few days between updates as the 18 kittens continue to heal and grow with their foster families.
The next big day for our 18 kittens will be on Tues October 10th, our veterinarian will assess the kittens’ eyes to determine which can be saved and which kittens have eyes that are so damaged they won’t heal. The surgeries to remove any eyes that are still damaged beyond healing will also take place on the 10th. We won’t know costs for these upcoming surgeries until the 10th so any help prior to that date will be greatly appreciated!
We are seeing daily improvement with kittens playing, purring, and eating well. Now that they are all doing much better general health wise the fosters are working on getting the basic medical needs of the kittens met. Dewormer and FVRCP vaccines are being given to all the kittens to make sure they continue to stay healthy as they continue to heal.
Continued donations will be utilized for the upcoming eye removal surgeries on some of the kittens and vet exams for all of them. We appreciate all who have donated and shared to this point! Next update on Friday!

Super Special Sunday! Meet Taus, one of Wild Blue Cats’ special needs kitties with his BFF Gravity! Taus came into Wild Blue Cats from Roswell, NM. Originally it was assumed he had swimmers legs. As he grew it was noted something was not quite right about a "swimmers leg" diagnosis. His legs weren't improving, and physical therapy was not helping improve his ability to use his rear legs. We got him into an orthopedic veterinary clinic to be assessed. His new xrays showed severe hip dysplasia and congenital spinal malformations akin to spina bifida. The specialists concluded that Taus will never gain the use of his rear legs but is otherwise a very happy, healthy kitten. •more photos in the comments.
We changed our physical therapy routine to foot and leg stretches to keep what mobility he has and started training him on a wheel board to help prevent drag sores. He is now almost 7 months old. Diaper trained when outside his crate, crate trained at night. He utilizes a litter box but due to dragging his behind he does need a diaper when out and about. He loves his wheel board and he gets around just fine without it too! He has the sweetest personality, he loves car rides and to travel, and is now looking for his forever home!
Taus is bonded with a kitty named Gravity. Gravity came from a TNR situation in Black Forest. She is about a month younger than Taus. She took a little longer to be social and as she was living with Taus they really bonded. She will not eat without him and she runs straight to the crate to sleep with him at night. They will need to be adopted together. The pair have recently moved to a new foster and Taus adjusted super fast to his new environment. Gravity is a little more shy but they are both doing great after a few weeks. They play and tussle and have a great time together. According to their new foster Taus is not a lot of work. He usually needs a little bath first thing in the morning. But he loves his bath. His fost
Hi all you cat lovers! I am Mama Window and this is my baby, Wipe. I was taken to Roswell Animal Control when I was a few weeks pregnant and very sick. The nice people from Wild Blue Cats came to Roswell and brought me to Colorado and my foster mom nursed me back to health. Unfortunately my babies did not make it but I was able to take in an orphaned kitten. I was an amazing Mama, if I do say so myself! It was later discovered later that we are both FELV+.
Wild Blue would like for us to be adopted together. They're even running an adoption special JUST FOR US! The two of us can be your Furbabies for $30.00. We need a loving home with no other animals. And a home where the adopters will be able to get us vet care any time we seem under the weather. Please come meet us at 5975 Burgess Rd. Get pre-approved to adopt by going to WBCats.org/Adopt.
